If there is a limb... I would surely be out on it.........eek!

*woah! did I see some tumbleweed?*

ok ok, David Blaine, David Blaine, I personally have gone from liking him, to hating him, to liking him to "Pass me my sniper rifle".
(you get the picture, and for the record, I dont own a firearm, or even know how to use such a thing.)

My opinion on the man is this, I like what he brought to magic, in that he got alot of the population (stateside more so) back into modern street/close up magic. I dont like how he puts across this "SHAZZAAM, wanna see something wierd tripe" - I would much prefer and respect him more if he said, "Hey, im a magician, check this out"

Derren Brown always casts aside any doubts of him being Lucifer at the start of each show by stating "its showmanship, misdirection.. you all know the rest" - Which 1, is remarkably honest and noble and 2, only adds to the all over effect. I dare say Derren could easily have said "im an Alien, and im gonna prove it, WATCH" and the front page the next day would be Derren shaking hands with a grey.

but Alas, this rant is about Blaine. I believe the general public was going through a drought of good magic, in the UK nothing had been properly televised since Paul Daniels and certainly nothing in the form of "Modern-ish Magic" , Bitten Coin , etc.....

I just wish Blaine toned down the theatrics, pretending to throw up after the Balducci or staring into the camera is just nonsense. and what of his visit to GMTV?? when he just sat there with an eye drawn on his hand...WTF!!??

Overall I am now reasonably liking the guy and I hope his future contributions to the magic community are worthy and sane. There are so many countless Magicians out there that are so skilled and original that given the same media coverage Blaine had would blow the roof off!!

Sorry for the rant, it is a forum..... *and breath*
