labco mental UFO2

Postby oska » Jan 2nd, '08, 15:17

very easy to use.
expensive but worth it.
rating; 9/10. [looses 1 point for hook up only]
available from; www.labcomagic.com .

I have just received the "new" labco ufo 2 thumper version. cost about £600 UK pounds / $1200 US dollars. this new version costs the same as the old one, so no price increase, and you get the thumper too!

the whole kit consists of a body worn receiver, 3 arm antennas, vibrator unit, 5 ESP cards, 5 blank cards, 5 chipped dice, 5 waterproof chips, thumper remote control, a comprehensive instruction /illusion manual. all presented in a top quality black flightcase. this is the "rolls royce" of electronic magic, so everything is of the highest proffesional quality.
with the recent addition of a thumper built into the ufo2 kit, this is the ultimate ultimate mentalism item.

the new bit is the thumper / cueing device, so now it comes with a tiny easily concealed remote control for your assistant to signal / cue you with. you can receive codes from a considerable distance away.
there are 3 modes you can choose from. mode 1/ a constant buzz/vibration. mode 2/ 8 buttons that transmit numbers 1 - 8. and mode3/ where any number between 1 - and 10 million can be quickly signaled. signal any card etc in a second or so, - very impressive ! once your assistant has entered the number, she presses "transmit" button, you receive the signal either through the vibrator, or the LED screen built into ufo2. the signal is repeated 6 times through the vibrator so you wont ever misread it.

recently there has been much concern over the reliability of a "certain" well known electronics creator, and when investing this kind of money in a product, reliability and back up are a real concern.
well there are no such concerns about labco, - ask anyone who has dealt with soren, he is a genuine stand up guy. allways replys the same day to emails, and does everything in his power to deal with any issues that may occur. he gives a full two years warranty on all his products. so absolutly no worries in that department.

UFO2 was always a versatile and formidable tool, but with this new addition of the cueing device, it really is the king.
-----------------------------------------------------

now i will compare UFO2 against rhinesense / probe;

As a performer who has used the original labco UFO2 for the last year, I would suggest the following are the advantages of the more expensive "UFO2" over the cheaper "PROBE" and "RHINESENSE" products;

1/ UFO2 has a much bigger, more powerful distance range of detection. - crucial.

2/ UFO2 repeats the code to the performer several times, so if you miss it first time as often happens during a lapse of concentration.

3/ UFO2 has an inbuilt LED display showing the code in real time. so you can wear the vibrator or choose to just use the LED display to receive your code.

4/ UFO2 can be body worn in the normal way, but with the new remote "sensors" you can place it anywere in the room and receive a signal from the "sensors" mounted under a table or wherever. - this feature alone is worth $1000, (see james cheungs / shrinks "7th sense"). when using this feature you don't need to wear any hook up, as I prefer to hide the LED receiver somewere in the room, or my close up case. you are totally clean.

5/ UFO2 also has included, a remote control thumper/cueing device built into the receiver unit, - it is the best thumper available and that part alone is probally worth at least $300.

6/ regarding the hook up and wires issue; wearing the receiver, and a seperatly wired antenna means that you have no bulky electronics on your wrist, like the PROBE. BUT if you still prefer a wrist worn, all in one unit like PROBE, - just get yourself an elasticated or velcro wrist support. secure the UFO2 receiver to your forearm, and just tuck in the vibrator into the antena wristband.
and "voila" you have a similar set up to PROBE, with everything self contained on your forearm. - I inderstand that labco are developing there own wristband and shortened wires to fit existing UFO2. so this should be available soon.

7/ with these features all built into one unit, you can easily perform a 45 minute show with nothing more than wearing your UFO2. - and all the illusions are top quality world class mental miracles ! everything is self working so you only have to practice presentation. - what price can you put on a miracle?

to sum up; UFO2 does everything PROBE can do, but better, and much much more is included. it is expensive but it is like comparing a ford with a rolls royce, they do similar things but are not the same. labco are constantly evolving the UFO2, designing new add on"s for it, - the UFO2 is something you will have and USE for many years, it is truly outstanding.

forget the price, buy the best and be the best.
a true investment.

It's a tool that can be used for mentalism effects. It comes with suggestions for routines but your imagination [edited by mods] is the limit.

Quite why nobody asked me directly on here is weird. If you have any questions about Probe (Rhinesense Mk3) please feel free to ask away.

Sadly there is a lot of misinformation about this item around - some of it spread by people who should know better.

I like the Labco product - its reliable and does a job well but Probe was not meant to compete dead on so really the comparison is a little silly. Its like looking at a $4k prediction chest and asking whether its better than Confabulation. If we'd wanted a labco style product then we'd have made one. Each does its own job. Now the French thing is out of the picture we can both breath easy.

Probe is made and was developed by Dave Everett - my name is associate with it since I have a working and product profile and it was me who worked on the presentations and brought it to market. I'm lucky enough to have had the first one.

I like it because it is lighter, smaller, easier to put on, more convenient in many ways (and, if its part of your decision making, under a third of the price). I'm a busy corporate worker and price doesn't bother me. If I needed UFO I'd buy one. I will pay whatever I need to in order to get what I want. Many of my items are hand made since its the only way I could get the perfect thing for me.

Probe is the perfect thing for me. It takes up no space, I put it on like a watch and I'm ready. I don't have to climb into it and stick wires up my sleeve and through holes in my jacket.

Many people buy both and we have many customers who have bought 2 or 3 probes and carry them in each of their bags. Some people go from UFO to Probe others go from Probe to UFO - its a personal choice. The user list is like a who's who in magic. Its not fair to tell you who they are but I have stories of it on 30 TV shows in at least 7 countries.

Look out for some new accessories and some of my personal working routines in the next 2 months.

I will also have them and some new products at the British Ring IBM convention in September 09.

Does this system require bare metal touching your skin? I have moody skin that comes up in a rash with certain (non silver) jewellery, for example. I wouldn't want to spend this much money to find out that I was allergic to it lol.

its shown on the site being worn over clohtes, so i shouldnt imagine your rash being an issue.

whats scary is that in the 12 months since the first post in this thread, the exchange rate has put this up by more than £200.

I am not trying to kill the hype, but what can it do that can't already be done?

It does everything, clean in one package, which I guess is brilliant thing.

Go on Craig, what do you think?

The gap is pretty close now. We (Australia) are 89 cents US.

The price advertised worldwide is US$500 - We have a price promise in place.

Some are doing it post paid (which we also do if you buy from us directly).

I have limited stock of my own here but the worldwide ship date for Murphys is around 1st March. I literally got the Instructional DVDs an hour ago.

Should you decide to order from me, you can paypal to www.psychefx.com

Hey Soren and Sean seems I run into you all again.

I love the Probe and I find that both the probe and the UFO3 are most excelent. I currently only have the Probe at this moment with my new UFO coming after blackpool sometime and cant wait to hear what new additions Soren has cooked up.

The probe I find is the simplest to use and works 100% for me.

I also have labco MB mini which I can tell you labco makes awesome products too.

The UFO which can do the same effect as the psy cards and more which is great. The added bonus to haing a body antenna and not having to put your hands out is why Im lmoving to the UFO soon. I have not seen if there is any additional addonds for the probe besides blank cards but for the price the probe is alot more affordable where the labco seems to cater more to the people that want something a little bit more meaty.

All in all again I can say that both companies/peple make great products and I always look forward to see what they come up with next. Cheers.
