Coinvexed Reviewed by James Brown

As a preamble to this review I would like to start by saying that I have never really liked any coin bends thus far. Although some have been good in their own ways, I always felt that they were either too bulky, too strange (ie hard to justify) or, and more importantly, that you seemed constrained to one given routine. The gimmick could only be used at one given time in one given way.

Before replies flood in let me add that many of you will not have had any of the above concerns. Whether you agree with the above or not what I am about to say WILL INTEREST YOU.

Ok, a quick over view of the gimmick and DVD

Gimmick - 10/10

This is just plain rude!

Brilliantly crafted, simple, effective and completely invisible. Even when you look at it yourself you will hardly know it’s there. A great deal of thought, time and money has clearly gone into this idea.

DVD- 8/10

I have marked this down purely on the basis that it does not have the mega budget of some of the latest DVD’s, BUT THEN AGAIN WHY SHOULD IT.

The dvd is clear, well labled and packaged. The instructions are thorough and explicitly understandable. David has included sufficient performance footage so we can see the pace of his routine and patter. You can watch this from start to finish without the need to jump sections (a novelty in itself!).

Overall

I got this on Friday when I arrived home from the first day of a three day trade show. I watched it once and my brain just buzzed with the possibilities. David has included his preferred handling so that the rest of us can pick it up and perform it in as little time as possible. All the timing and misdirection is built into the routine. BUT the beauty is you can make this your own. The gimmick gives you the freedom to do the bend whenever and however you want. Create your own routine using this tool, experiment.

The next day I bend about 30 coins! Flawless. One guy even stared at my hands whilst I bend the coin and still had no idea at the end how it had happened. That’s the strength of COINVEXED.

The effect on the spectator is also amazing (heightened by your performance ability). One lady who turned out to be a reiki master practitioner said, “To have so much energy running out of you must be incredibly draining”. Bear in mind I wasn’t even doing that sort of effect!

Finally

As one of the few to have this I am both privileged and gutted. Privileged to perform this, gutted that you will all be doing this after Blackpool. David, PLEASE double the price so that fewer people buy this!

Darn - I got my review copy of Coinvexed yesterday but James has beaten me to the review  Anyway, no harm in a second opinion

Like James, I've also never been a fan of coin bends and when David first mentionned his coin bend routine during discussions about Refraction I wasn't too sure if it was going to be of interest to me. Now that I have it, Coinvexed has made a convert out of me.

For a start, the gimmick is so ‘covert’ that it's literally under the nose of the specs throughout most of the routine and as James states, they won’t even notice that it’s there.

Coinvexed has been designed by David to compliment his Refraction routine which for those of you who perform this under working conditions will know that it works nicely with another metal bending routine. I’ve used Refraction on most occasions with Morgan’s Liquid Metal but I do know that there are those out there that don’t like Liquid Metal that much.

What Coinvexed brings to the table is somethng from the same ‘stable’ that's been designed specifically with Refraction in mind but which can also be used as a stand-alone routine.

Coinvexed shares some common ground with Refraction in that the psychology is similar and direct so they should naturally work well together – if performed properly of course.

Back to Coinvexed and the gimmicks are manufactured to a very high standard and will work with just about ANY currency. The misdirection needed for that brief moment is built-in into the routine and very natural it is too. It almost self works and the deed is over and done before the actual routine starts.

I haven't performed Coinvexed anywhere near as many times as James but can vouch that the results have been the same.

The DVD teaches everything that you need to know in very good clear detail including how to set up and use the gimmick as well as that ‘clever’ misdirection.

If you’re realistically confident in your skills as a performer then you’ll be performing Coinvexed without too much fuss in a relatively short time. I’ve performed Coinvexed a few times today by following the routine to the letter, on every occasion it's delivered what it claims and more. I walked past a group of girls minutes after giving them a bent 10p and they had photographed it on a mobile and were texting the photo's to their friends

The difficulty is restraining yourself so that you don't over perform it too many times to the same people as everyone wants to see it again - and then again.

Overall
If you’ve pre-ordered Coinvexed then I don’t think that you’ll be disappointed.

Coinvexed is the preverbial wolf in sheeps clothing!

i've not got either - so im just thinking aloud...

and if yes, do i get a free copy of both?! hehe joking...well...

anyway - how would this play out, or indeed, would it be possible with sufficient misdirection to place their coin into a wine glass and then do a double bend at once as it were?

they're concentrating on the stem of the glass so much, as it wilts, then you draw their attention to their coin...and that has bent too...

possible? i'd like the answer to be yes - to both my question, and whether i could have a freebie

I would suspect not as I think that I got the last review copy and it wasn't free

Thanks to James and David for taking the time to review COINVEXED.

Also, a lot of people have been asking me if you need to use two coins. Well the simple answer is no. It’s just the routine I prefer which allows for sure fire misdirection and a couple of psychological convincers which are explained on the DVD. Like James said, you can make this your own as the gimmick is very flexible. If you want to have one coin signed and bend it then that is no problem at all.

If you are going to be there, I look forward to meeting you at the Blackpool convention. World Magic Shop will be the only company with COINVEXED and we can be found in the Balcony Sales Arena.

Kind regards,

David
P.S. Not long now Chris. lol

David, I'll be getting this effect after you Demo it to me at Blackpool (if you don't mind) I want to be so fooled by this and want to experience your handling first hand.

What other deals are you (WMS) throwing together as I already have Bang on.

Catch you in Blackpool

No problem at all. Although I doubt that you will ever be able to truly experience this effect in the same way that your audience will. This is obviously because you have prior knowledge of the end result. When a spectator opens their hand and discovers a bent coin it knocks them sideways. If you have another look at the guy in the video, he is genuinely shocked and can’t get it out of his mind. Every spectator has this reaction because the effect really connects with the audience.

What I am planning to do on the stand is demonstrate the effect and then show you the gimmick up close. We believe that this is one of those items that any magician can see the huge potential in once the curtain has been pulled back on the method. I am very proud of this.

I will be on the stand quite a bit. If I am not there get one of the team to call me on the mobile and I will give you a time that I will be back on the stand to have a chat. I will obviously be taking a break to go and see some lectures like Chris Priests on the Friday night especially and I think Craig Petty is putting on a special event.

With regard to deals you will need to ask Jim and Costas on the stand. It will be a different deal each day with a few different combinations. Saying that, I am convinced that it won’t be the deal along side it that convinces you to get coinvexed. It will be your enthusiasm, having seen that gimmick up close.

“The difficulty is restraining yourself so that you don't over perform it too many times to the same people as everyone wants to see it again - and then again. 10/10”
David Taylor

“In short – this is superb. The ultimate solution to the bending coin plot. It ticks all the right boxes - commercial, deceptive and extremely memorable. Very highly recommended!”
Rob James-Magic Week

“I want mine now” Magic Chris-TM lol

Cheers guys and looking forward to meeting you all in person.

In the past, when I've seen methods and gimmicks revealled after a performance I more often that not been disapointed with what I've seen and learnt.

Forgetting that you've been fooled, entertained etc. sometimes the illusion is weakened by what is then revealed.

Not so Coinvexed. When I saw the gimmick for the first time I missed it completely - where is it I asked myself? Then, when I 'actually' saw it my jaw dropped.

It won't take more than a couple of seconds for most people to realise and appreciate the cleverness and potential that the Coinvexed gimmick and the routine has. Your eyes will light up!

David say's that he is proud of Coinvexed and rightly so in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong David (and thanks for the reply) I am getting this effect regardless. It's just that I might as well pick up another bargain if I can at the same time was more my thinking.

Cheers for the responses, I can't wait till Friday, if buy one thing at Blackpool and one thing only it will be coinvexed so much how I have been "convinced" already :)

See you there

Right,

I had a chance to work this in tonight in a residency I perform at. I did it about 20 times and all I can say is everyone HAS to buy this at Blackpool. I am always looking for effects that reset instantly and can be done surrounded whilst at the same time being powerful magically. Well this device fits the bill. Its easy to use but the magic you can perform is great.

I used to use a Joe Porper Terminator Wallet but as of now I am switching or this gimmick which is 20 times better. The am sure that any worker that sees this will want to buy it. I will put a proper review up in the next couple of days but in the mean time I just want to say THIS TRICK IS GREAT!!!

Thanks David for releasing this to the magic community. I look forward to seeing you at Blackpool.

Agecroft

Mention FREE ODBALL when you purchase Coinvexed as I have reserved one for you. No point in Paying £15 for it. If you already have one you can always sell it on for a £1 lol and you will still be in profit.

We are also giving away 5 Bang Ons RRP £70 at a ridiculous price. Make us an offer, we might even say yes to a £5.

No we are not desperate for cash. Its last years trick. Making room for this years successes and to make a few people happy.

Oh this week will be a fun week. Who knows what else we will give away.

Did i mention ... oh sorry not supposed to mention that. You will find out soon lol

This just gets better and better!

Thanks, see you on the balcony on Friday

Quick question - will this work with all the euro coins such as the euro 50 cent?
