Tony Slydini (born as Quintino Marucci) was born in 1901 in Italy. He was son of amatour magican who have learned him his firsts tricks and inspired him to start increasing his magic abilities. In 1930 he has moved to New York where he have made his first shows.
He is famous from his specific style of close-up,impromptu magic. He is known as master of missdirection.

I personally love slydini's magic and I pereform his tricks but i will never be as good at this as he was. The real master.
I'll give you some links to movies with slydini below

You should have seen him when he was younger! He is a very old man in those videos.
I saw him in his prime on British TV about 4 times. 3 times on the Max Jaffa programme and once on a programme featuring Vernon and Cy Endfield. I think this programme was produced by Harry Stanley and it lasted half an hour.
I do a fair bit of Slydini material. With regard to the paper balls in hat (or box) Ken Brooke told me that Slydini did not regard it as one of his better tricks but he felt it should go in the book in order that the student would get an appreciation of timing and misdirection.

The key to the Slydini material is to alter it to your own requirements and not slavishly ape Slydini and his gestures. You have to do it your own way. I have completely altered his one coin routine to my own requirements and I believe it is stronger for it. I have also worked out my own climax to the Helicopter card which I believe makes it stronger.

I consider Slydini to have been a master magician in his prime and I resent the negative remarks made about him by Darwin Ortiz in Strong Magic.

I have only seen about 6 good close up magicians in my entire life and Slydini was one of them. I have excruciatingly high standards of course.

Slydini is my favourite magician

His misdirection is what we call magic, honestly he can go thru a deck of cards without you looking at him...

I personaly was inspired to start in magic when i saw one of his vids on youtube i just tought:"Wow thats amazing".And even today i think the same when i see him

One of the Best

Slydini also inspired me massively, in my teen age years (a while ago now I can tell you). My father took me to Ron Macmillan's International Day of Magic in London in about 1977/78 (I think it was) and I was fortunate enough to attend a close-up lecture by this great man... I remember a homing paper ball routine vividly and also his incredible 'coins through table' routine. This was truly astonishing, the magic simply danced in Slydini's hands, as elegant as it was baffling.. He was gentle, polished and to this day the strongest close-up man I have ever witnessed. Some years later I bought his book 'The magic of Slydini' which has pride of place in my magic library.
