Tricks for Beginners.

Multiplying 3-D Rabbits by Michael Ammar
£13.95 from ://www.emagictricks.co.uk
http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=3460

The Effect.
The spectator is shown two Rabbits, a mummy rabbit and a daddy rabbit, and they are asked to select one. The one they select is placed in their open hand and the magician closes the spectators hand making it into a fist – telling the spectator to be very careful as the mummy and daddy rabbit are very much in love and don’t like being apart (barf).

The other rabbit is then placed into the magicians pocket, and after a short pause they ask the spectator to check on the rabbit they selected. The spectator will open their hand to find that there in fact both mummy and daddy rabbits are still there.

The magician says words to the effect of “uh oh – I thought this might happen, lets see if your other hand can control them better”. The magician then takes the two rabbits and places them in the spectators other hand, and again closes the spectators hand into a fist.

When the spectator is asked to open their hand a second time, to check that they are still both there, they find that the mummy and daddy rabbit have now be joined by 5 baby bunnies.

Difficulty. 2/5
1=I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Fairly easy. There is some sleight of hand, but bearing in mind it is with sponge rabbits – it is probably amongst the easiest going.

Review.
This is obviously geared towards children, but the likkle rabbits are so cute that it never fails to impress. Even when I have performed this to adults they have still been very surprised at the shear quantity of rabbits in their hand at the end of the trick. They all expect something to happen, usually for rabbits to disappear, but seeing the look on their faces when they see their hands overflowing with bunnies is always very satisfying.

Rating. Effect/item: 8/10, Quality of goods: 10/10, Value for money: 7/10

Bottom Line.
Ok, its not Rocket surgery how this is done, but its still quite impressive to perform as the spectator never really expects to see all the rabbits at the end.

If performing to kids I would without a doubt always have this with me. With just adults – well, I guess it depends on the adults (women do seem to find them adorable though).

This sounds like the sort of thing you could perfom innocently for kids and as rude as you can get for adults. Plenty of Frankie Howerd-type innuendo required. Nice one, thanks for the review. :D

You know this is one of my favourite tricks. I know the patter sounds silly, and maybe not everyones cup of tea - but it really has gone down extremely well whenever I perform it.

Don't be put of by the cutesyness of it - people just don't exprect all the rabbits at the end. In fact what they expect is for one or both of the rabbits to disappear - not for more, and especially not 5 more!

Penguin Magic have a vid dem of it.

I'm not sure if this is exactly the same version as reviewed (but it looks it), but the sale at emagictricks now has it for 1.77 YES!!!! only 1.77

This has to be a great bargain!!! Now there is no excuse for anyone not owning this.

3D Rabbits

Postby m_itzko » Jun 29th, '04, 18:09

I have the 3D Multiplying Rabbits and they're great. the effect is amazing.
if you could make up a good patter/story for the trick, then it's even more amazing. i just ask the spectator which one they'd like, I give them the chosen rabbit (say mama rabbit), i place papa in my pocket, tell the spectator to say "papa come to mama", they say it and they see papa has joined mama. Now do the same thing with papa, place him in their hand, place mama in pocket, tell the spec to say "mama come to papa". now give them "both" to the spec, and ask them "you know what heppens when bunnies are in the dark for too long? boys and girls, this is your first lesson in life". ask them to open their hand and check the little ones in their hand. once again an amazing trick, make up a good story and you'll be set for a great trick.

True, but I'm happy to lose that one laugh for the better quality 3D rabbits you get with this. I also have a 4" and a 6" one that I sometines use with a change bag...

Ben, I'm not sure I understand what you are saying there mate. But I wouldnt give them away they are too expensive to replace, and they are too small to have a business card on the bottom. The 4" maybe, but at £5 a time I aint givin it away... Sorry if I misunderstood your message, but the english was confusing...

As a bit of an aside, if anyone really wants to give away a toy rabbit, have a look at http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/Rabbits.html
which is described as 'Cute, plush rabbits height 115mm, assorted colours. Ideal give away CE tagged'.

And at £1 each or £10.50 for a dozen they're not too expensive to give away at a paying gig. I bought some last year and they are extremely good quality.

What a great idea. If doing multiplying bunnies for kids - you could finish up with changing the whole family into one big cuddly rabbit that the birthday kid could keep. A nice and memorable ending.

Nice one Mandrake...

I received these recently and they are fab. I paid £7.49 from Magic Nevin which was the best price I could find.

I performed this for some kids today (aged four, five and ten) and it went down a treat. And the adults loved it, too! I reckon it got better reactions than most of my card tricks (although that could just be my substandard card skills!)
