would it be possible to have a place to discuss Grand illusions and all that goes with them such as routines, music, effects, cast etc.

I don't feel there is a good section here dedicated to large scale illusions.

thanks

Whilst there's not a section dedicated to Big Illusions, it's not a subject that comes up that often, so I would suggest we just use the miscellaneous section or Support and Tips (depending n the actual enquiry).

We could equally say there is not a section on Bizzare magic, or Close-Up magic or Children's magic.

It is a compromise really isn't it, if we have too many rooms (and some say we already have too many), then there is a lot of unnecessary scrolling up and down.

What do others think?

Personally I think the section are quite good atm.
They dont neglect or favour any particular form of magic.
(Apart from the mentalists only section) :)

I think there are enough rooms at the moment. I think having a separate mentalists only area is a good idea because there are a lot of mentalists. I'm sure if there was the same amount of people on this forum who are into big illusions then a separate room would be created.

Supply and demand

I think TM is just fine at the moment; I don't feel any great need for additional forums. Too many forums just confuses me - look at The Magic Cafe. It takes me an age just to scroll down the page. As for finding the correct forum to post in, forget it! I'd be there all flippin' day just getting lost, never mind posting anything.

Keep it simple, that's what I say. :D

I agree, it would cause so much scrolling, things are fine the way they are.

but right now there are to many sections and if you end up writting in the misselaneous section all the time that must mean the rooms are not catering correctly. Hence my point if you merge some of these rooms with little flow and make specific rooms you would not need to scroll all the way down and it will not be a mission to do. i just think that some areas of magic are neglected and would be fantasitc to have a conversation about the type of magic i like with other who share this passion.

Sometime you need to try new things,

I like things the way they are.

Besides usually the topic title gives you an idea of what its about. A topic called the "zig zag lady" isn't going to be about a new packet card trick.

If it ain't broke don't fix in IMO.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Indeed we do and you can be sure that all suggestions like this are considered. As has been mentioned before, new rooms for specific areas have been suggested in the past but there wasn't much evidence of support for them which means we'd end up with rarely used rooms.

However, if there's enough support and need for a separate room for a particular type then we'd seriously consider it although it might mean a bit of reshuffling and perhaps merging of other rooms to keep TM reasonably efficient and avoid the sprawling housing estate which the Cafe has become  .

I don't think alot of intrest will be drummed up and this is obviously clear by the response on this section.

sometimes what is fine for one group of people might not mean its is for all. so maybe it is broke and you just don't see it.

as to postings with clear markings thats all very well and good but the post will be lost along side other posts with diffrent subjects.

I also prefer having all posts in one forum not only because it saves scrolling time (I visited the cafe once, and after scrolling down the list of forums my mind wandered) but as Mandrake said, there isn't enough posts to warrant separate forums

I also find having the stuff in one forum opens me up to other kinds of magic I wouldn't have thought of reading about, so rather than 'losing' posts, I'm gaining them
