Digital Dissolve
http://www.theory11.com/tricks/digital-dissolve.php

The Official Spam-

Quote:
A half dollar is placed into a spectator's closed hand. You rest a copper English penny on the back of that same hand, and the copper coin visually changes into the half dollar. The coin is immediately shown on both sides. The spectator opens their hand to find the English penny. Both coins can be fully examined, immediately.

With precision made coins, hand-crafted by Jamie Schoolcraft, Digital Dissolve takes coin magic to the next level. A transposition worthy of the reactions it receives.

Previously known to only a select few, it's now released here for the first time.

The Effect-

A copper coin and silver coin are introduced and shown on both sides. The silver coined is placed into the spectator's closed fist. The copper coin is waved over the hand and vidually changes into the silver coin. The copper coin is in their hands and both coins can be immediatly examinable.

The Story-

A while back, I came home, and saw a package at my doorstep. I opened it up and found one deck of Guardians, one deck of Wynns, Panic, and Digital Dissolve all from Theory 11. The special coins for Digital Dissolve came in a nice small silver box. It protected the coins very well.

The Gimmick-

The gimmick is expertly made by Jamie Schoolcraft. The gimmick can be sold individually for much, much more. The gimmick is on a English Penny. If you want, with this gimmick, you can perform an amazing Three Fly with English Pennys.

The DVD-

The DVD was pretty short, but it cointained all of the information needed. The DVD cover was nice looking, as well was the actual DVD itself. The DVD had sections showing a couple performances. Dan White performs magic JUST like David Blaine. I hate it. Anyhow, it then shows the gimmick, the basic move, the routine, and some alternatives. Overall, I liked it.

The Price-

I got this for $34.95. I think that's a great price. The gimmick can sell for much more. So, for $44.95, you get a professional made DVD and professionally made gimmicks. It was temporarly (sp) out of stock, but it is back now.

Set-Up-

The set-up is very fast. Put the coins into your pocket, do one more quick thing, and you're set-up.

Reset-

There is a small reset, but it won't take long at all.

Reactions-

This got very good reactions. People were completely astounded. On the DVD, Dan White got HUGE reactions.

Learning Time-

This effect is VERY easy. It shouldn't take more than ten minutes to learn. I highly recommend practicing a lot before going out and performing. Practice makes perfect.

Originality-

There have been arguments about this effect. There is a very long discussion on the Magic Cafe. People argue that it was first created by Steve Dusheck by the name of Copper Silver Transposition. When I got the trick, it came with a link to download the original manuscript to Steve's effect.

Overall-

I really enjoyed this effect. I think everyone should try it out.

Rating-

Without a doubt, I give this a 10/10.

The End-

I really hope you enjoyed this review. If you have any questions or comments PLEASE post them. I will add anything to this review to make it better.

Jeff

P.S. Digital Dissolve's price went up $10. Steve and Theory11 worked out everything.

ARGGGHHHHH!!!!

CUPS ALERT Evil or Very Mad

Very nice review there, JJJP - in fact too nice Shocked

It's fair to say that my CUPS Alarm is currently going off the scale, and I'm not resiting very well at all.

One thing though - can't believe nobody else has commented on this effect - surley there has to be a few other members who have this??

Please...if you're out there, and you have this, let me know what you think of it (finger's crossed, eveyone will say it's cr*p, and I'll save my pennies Wink Very Happy )

Rob

Well...fat lot of good you lot are; instead of saving me from myself, warning me away, and generally holding my thrashing, convulsing form back from the evil CUPS monster...you abandon me!!!

So...long story short, my Digital Dissolve is on the way - opinion to follow shortly Twisted Evil

Well....it's arrived Twisted Evil

First impressions?

This is very, very nice indeed; clean, simple handling of a killer in-their-own-hands transpo.

Whilst you're not left entirely clean, the in-built misdirection of the coins that the specs are left with means zero heat on you!

The props supplied are more than adequate (and an absolutely bargain for the price - if you're familiar with a signature Dusheck coin gaff, you'll soon realise that buying that item alone would have cost you more than the price of Digital Dissolve!), whilst the DVD is short and to-the-point, leaving little room for confusion.

If you're coupling this with, or as a follow on, from any other Copper/Silver/Brass routine, this is - without any shadow of a doubt - the perfect closer.

I also need to give a shout out to the Customer Support guys, across at Theory 11: As I got my Digital Dissolve second hand, it didn't come with the link to Dusheck's material.

Being the cheeky git I am, I emailed them, and they set me up with the Manuscript as soon as I dropped them a pikkie of me with the DVD - friendly and fast, I'd be happy to order from these guys in the future, if the effect and price were right!

My verdict? A very easy 9.5/10 - I love it Twisted Evil

Rob

I don't normally do these, but felt - in this case - that Digital Dissolve warranted a follow-up review.

To my shame, I now need to alter my previous score to 10/10; having now had plenty of time to use this in real life, with friends and work colleagues, it's actually even stronger that my initial reactions!

I guess this is probably down to my handling becoming more natural with each performance, but I really cannot stress enough how hard this is now hitting.

It's simple, direct, and smacks the specs hard and fast, directly in their happy-sacks (one of my colleagues went so far as to 'confiscate' the coins for the entire day, in an effort to "figure out how the hell that was done"!)

Suffice to say, he returned, shame-faced, at half-five, handed me the coins back...and asked me to perform the effect again for him.

He then swore a great deal, and pronounced me a witch Laughing

I'm only just getting back into coins again, after a long abscence, but I've never seen any coin effect as simple and powerful as this.

If you even only have a remote case of CUPS, this will be one purchase you DON'T have to worry about regretting!!

Rob

My only thought here is the same as for many other effects which use the same type of coins. As we haven't used 'Old English' penny coins since we changed to decimal coinage on February 15th 1971, don't the alarm bells ring a little when a magish suddenly starts using one? Just wondering...... Wink

Hmmm...only, I'd guess, in the same way as alarm bells might ring when we suddenly rake out half-dollars or weird, Chinese coins.

S'odd, really, but I usually find folks are more interested if I'm using props that are vaguely recognisable, but not in common use in this country.

Maybe it's just me?! Wink

Dammit, Rob! Can you stop posting, please?! Either that or I need to stop clicking on any thread where the last post was made by a certain "robstanley1"....

I've just watched the video demo and it does look impressive. (If you watch right to the end, past all the hype, you actually get to see the effect performed!) I also read the thread over at the Cafe to get more opinions; this one looks and sounds very good.

Oh - seriously, bud - this one is more than good; once your get past the fact that it's a Theory 11-hyped effect, and look at the actual effect as it is presented to your specs, you soon begin to realise that this is some of the most visual, in-their-hands, fully-examinable coin magic you're ever likely to see.

It's also pretty cheap, considering that the actual gaff, if bought by itself, would cost more than the asking price of all the items, plus the DVD routine you get with this.

Go on, Rep - you know you want to Twisted Evil

The effect itself sounds like Steve Duschecks quick change ( which I have ) in which a small bulldog clip is used.. instant and visual transposition of two coins.. or a 10p into two 5ps.. or whatever else.

You should pick up quick change Rob and compare !! Twisted Evil

Actually, dude, the gaff IS based on a Duschek effect (and - boy - was there an outcy, before Theory 11 finally did the decent thing, and cut Steve in on the deal!!! Shocked Wink )

I wouldn't go as far as to say they're the same - can you replicate DD with the Quick Change gaff? Wink
