Touched By An Angel: Review

Postby Ed » Nov 23rd, '06, 22:57

Hey guys, here is a review for the trick touchd by an angel. by: Peter eggink. This is an amazing trick, for people who havent heared about it check it out, its worth the money. So here is the review.

THE EFFECT: Any card is selected and signed, the card is flipped face down as you talk about angels. The two angels on the back of their card are pointed out. A shake of the card and BOTH angels visually vanish from the back of the card, leaving just two blank spaces
In the blink of an eye both angels reappear back on the card! The card is then given to the spectator to keep, it is their signed card.
NO Hinges! NO Flips! NO Switches! The Angels just Disappear! I give the effect a 10/10.

THE GIMMICK: The gimmick is very well made, it wont break at all if you are gentel with it. if you are rough with the gimmick it will of coure break, I've had this trick for about six months and it still hasnt worn out yet. when you add the gimmick to your deck of cards, it is virtually undetectable, I havent been caught with it yet, and I never will. So the gimmick is of high quality and it will last you a long time. I give the gimmick a 10/10.

THE SET-UP: The set up takes 2 seconds and thats about it, after you set up the trick you can walk around and do it all day long, after you do the effect you are back at the starting point of the trick which is a good thing casue there is nothing to set up. so all you gotta do is set it up once and your set for how ever much you wanna perform the trick. the only downside to the set-up is that you cant have the gimmick inside the deck and perform other card tricks with it, so what I do is I have a deck set up with the gimmick so I use one deck for this particular trick so all you need to do is a simple deck switch and your set. so I give the set up a 10/10.

THE METHOD: The method of the trick completly fooled me. when I saw this trick being performed, I was stumped, I normally dont get stumped when I see a card trick being perfomed but I was fooled badly with this one. The trick really doesnt use any hinges, or flips or anykind of switch! when I heard that it doenst use any kind of hinges or flips or switch I was even more fooled. This is such a beatiful effect, and its even more beatiful to perform, this is one of the easist tricks ever. but it seems impossible, when you give the card a shake and under no cover what so ever the two angels just dissapear into thin air. when you do the tirck, and the spectators are looking at two blank spots were the angels used to be, there mouths just drop open they are speechless, and just the same way, you give the card a shake and the angels visually appear back onto the card. thats some amazing magic. the best part is when you give them the card which they signed, they can look at it all day and find nothing worng with it. thats the part I like the most. This effect uses an ingenious method, so I give the method a 10/10

CLEAN UP: Like I said before there really isnt any clean up, in fact there isnt any, all you do is give them there signed card, and you can go on to the next person and perform the trick. thats one thing I like about this trick becasue there are some tricks that you have to set up again before you perform it again. so I give the clean up a 10/10.

Here are some pros and cons about this trick:
PROS:
the gimmick is well made and unditectable
the gimmick wont break
this is some serious beatiful magic
it seems completly imposible
you can do the trick completly surrounded
there is no clean up after the trick
once you put the gimmick in ur deck you can do it all day.

CONS:
I didnt think of this myself
you cant do other card tricks with the gimmick in the deck
the gimmick could break if you are to rough with it

OVERALL: This is an amazing effect, it will completly fry the spectators, the spectators can be burning you the whole time and they wont see anything unsuall except the angels dissapearing and reapearing. I like this effect alot and so do the spectators, so pick of this trick "touched by an angel" by: peter eggink. trust me, it will be worth the money, and its not that expensive.
so the overall grade of this effect is a perfect 10/10!

That's really interesting. Do you have a video of it somewhere? I tried searching on the net but I'm getting the TV series.

If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

There's "City of Angels" (also by Peter Eggink) which is quite similar to "Touched by an Angel" http://www.themagicgadget.co.uk/City-Of ... -1504.html

Well, I just bought this after reading the review and I must say that I am very disappointed :(

Not quite - to give their own signed card back requires a DL & switch. When the angels disappear if you have direct overhead lighting you can easily see 2 cut out holes which would make most spectators suspicious and want to handle the gimmicked card which they can't do. :?

Not true, as I stated above

Are you sure you're not on commission ?

Personally I am the one who feels a bit 'fried'. You get a triple thick gimmicked glued card which is very stiff. You would have to give the spectator only a cursory glance of the angels/holes in poor lighting and need to switch the card in order to hand it out.

I doubt I will ever use it. :(

Wow-
I have never heard of this trick, so i naturally clicked on the thread. I had an initial question but then after reading "perfect 10/10," I opened another link up to buy it.
Glaaaad i kept reading tho...
I wonder if Kevin and Ed recieved the same exact gimmick made by the same place??
I'm still a tad interested in it if i come across a good price on it. However;
I have a question that determines it, but I don't know if the answer is considered 'revealing'. So, if you dont want to post it but would be kind enough to PM it to me, please do! B/c so few people own this trick, I'm hoping ill still be able to find out the answer so i can decide whether i want to get it or not.

Okay, when the angels disappear.... what is there? is it just the white background of the card, or are they actual holes where you can see the other side? Or is it black maybe?
It makes a big difference to me~
Thanks

'Ed' gives virtually everything he reviews a 10/10 so I would tend to be a little more cautious than usual before rushing out and buying...

Well I can't believe you didn't see through this Ed. I just watched the vid for the first time and it is so transparent.

i didn't really like this trick,
the gimmick is poor as stated above.
very thick, and the cut holes are visible.
i don't really see it performable unless your in a dark room, which would ruin the whole effect anyway.

Nothing really to do with the trick itself but the title reminded me of this:

Greedoniz, I am SO glad I'm not the only one who thought of that scene.
