REVIEW

Well, where do I begin? If you want to see the most talentless magician you will ever have the mis-fortune to watch...get this DVD. You can rent it on Lovefilm.com if you don't want to buy it (I woluldn't blame you)

Darrington Sitch is like a wake-up call to all semi-pro magicians who have just started out in magic. If you need a confidence booster, watch this guy, and you'll feel like Jesus in comparison. The guy has NO skills, NO talent, NO personality, NO rapour, NO CLUE AS TO WHAT MAGIC IS.

The guy has got his own DVD out, yet he's performing tricks you'd get in a childs magic set. He repeats the same trick over, and over again.....and there's not one sleight to be seen! He attemps a top ch***e, but instead, he just does it very slowly, and in full view of the spectators.....hardly smooth moves really!

Gimmick Coins, Gimmick Cards, and the same 3-4 tricks shown repeatedly seems to be all we need to have our own DVD in the shops! I'm not kidding, I nearly fell out of my chair watching this rubbish! A complete disgrace to the magic community, and a desecration to the art of deception. Gimmicks are fine, but if you're going to call yourself a magician, I think it goes without saying that even the worst of us don't rely on them 100% of the time.

The very idea that someone out there has funded, and mass produced this DVD is mind boggling. It's a travesty! It's sacrilege! It makes you feel so bitter and angry that some amatuer magician (and I use the term 'magician' loosley!) has gone and created this diabolically poor addition to the world of magic....and here's me.....scrapping a living together by doing pubs, clubs and restuarants, whilst Darrington Sitch is sitting back and gaining royalties from each DVD sale! AAAARRRRGGGH!

He teaches you none of the tricks which are shown (not that any of you wouldn't know them anyway), so the DVD is clearly aimed at entertaining laymen instead......I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM......any laymen who watches this and assumes that Darrington Sitch is a good magician, is an insult to the rest of us, a insult to anyone who's spent years mastering sleight of hand, mis-direction, spectator psychology, snappy patter, psuedo-science, pacing, timing and all the other stuff we have to obsess over in order to be worthy of the title "magician"

One half of me wants to warn you all to avoid this like the plague.....but the other half is SO outraged at the lack of performance, that I want others to witness this shockingly bad DVD - you literally have to see it to believe it! He isn't even drunk either....so that is certainly no excuse!

If Darrington Sitch is on this forum - you are a disgrace Sir, hang your head in shame!!!!

....and if anyone else has seen this DVD as well, please let me know if you were as appalled as I was.

SCORE OUT 10

minus one million, out of ten!

Indeed! - completely suckered in with the sales pitch on the back of the box. That's probably his best trick actually....getting people to part with their money for his DVD.

Take my advice and invest your money more wisely. Some shares in Northern Rock maybe, a chocolate tea pot perhaps...or you could use the money as some expensive toilet paper (I wish I had done now)

Gimmicks are fine, but if you're going to call yourself a magician, I think it goes without saying that even the worst of us don't rely on them 100% on them all the time.

There is no problem with using a full act of gimmics....its no different to that of a stage magician! As long as the audience is entertained what difference does it make?

I use alot of mentalsim now on my act, but any magic on top of that I perform usualy contains a gimmic 75% of the time...but youve still got to be a master of sleight to stop the spectator seeing it...My act is such a mix of different styles now, why waste your time learning something that takes years if a gimmic does it for you? Im not saying that this dvd is good or bad either way as Ive not seen it, but seriously whats the deal with using gimmics, they wouldnt have been invented if we all wanted to be purests!

I completely agree mate, well said. Gimmicks are indeed fine if used to maximise the impact of the performance, or to maybe substitute a sleight you may be having trouble with....e.g. using a p**l instead of learning a coin vanish sleight.

There has been long debates on here already about gimmicks versus sleights, but that's not technically what this thread is about - It's about Darrington Sitch's dispicable violation of magic performance. All the gimmicks in the world couldn't make this guy a better performer!

I suggest you watch it to see what im banging on about. Be prepared to watch it with your mouth hanging wide open in disgust though.....he really is the worst performer i've ever seen. Or at the very least, have a pillow ready to scream into, for when you see his handling of the 10p / 2p scotch n soda gimmick. You won't know whether to laugh or cry. (I think I was probably doing both at the same time)

Has anyone else on here witnessed this mockery of magic? Would love to hear what you made of it?
