Peek Wallet

Difficulty: 2.5

They say: It's not on the website yet as far as I can see but it's in the newsletter so if your on the e-mail list check it out.

I say: This is as far as I can see a new concept in magic, I have never seen this before. It is a peek wallet where you do not have to go back for the peek at all. So your probably all wondering why I give it 2.5 for difficulty then if it's a simple peek wallet. Well the peek and method is a 0.5 in difficulty it is very easy but this will require a bit of balls and showmanship if performed at it's most powerful. Literally the spec can write say a number/word etc on a piece of paper slip it into the wallet and when the wallet is closed you can rest the wallet on there hands and you can get the peek from there but the spec will never be able to see a thing. However there are angle problems but nothing a semi-experianced performer could'nt handle with a bit of practise. For anybody who doesen't like going back a second time to a wallet this is the wallet for you . The actual method is very cunning and deceptive. The only other problem I have noticed with it is the peek is better in certain light's but you can still get the peek in bad lighting it just take's a little longer again which shouldn't be a problem for a semi-skilled performer.

Rating 8.5 out of ten

Excellent device for those who don't like going back for the peek
Can create some really powerful routine's with this baby

A few angle issues
Lighting can cause a problem but not to much, This is more of a glitch than a problem to be honest.

Am I getting mixed up? Wasn't this at Blackpool for £20 odd? Happy that the price is higher, as that will deter the inquisitive, although I'd expect it to be top quality leather for that price.

i've got one, i agree the price should be around the forty quid mark - stops everyone having one...sorry, but it's true...

in fact, make it sixty...

but having said that, i dont actually like the design of it, though it works very well, its not actually a wallet...its a business card holder....so i dont use mine, and use Roth's Outlaw Panther and Magnum instead...

its nice, just doesnt suit me as a person...too classy looking!

i would imagine it would fit nicely with the horwitz add-a-no. and wallet though...looks like a mini version of them with the gold edging...

I think it is too angly when performing surrounded. Also in my view the plastic windows on the outside would arouse suspicion.

However something that might be of interest to the originator or to someone with the technical knowhow to make alterations.

When I begun to play with it, I thought I’d try and overcome the problems. I’d have my business card prepared before performance in the front window. Withdraw it, get them to write whatever on the reverse using the wallet as a support and let them place it themselves in the inside pocket of the wallet ready for peeking. But there are two identical pockets and only one can be peeked. So if they put it into the wrong pocket I am lost. Now if they had made both sides so we could peek from either would have been an improvement.
I could place the card into the wallet myself as recommended in the instructions, but doesn’t make sense for the performer to handle the card once the secret message is on it.
On the other hand while they place the card in the wallet themselves they could accidentally come across the secret.
Apart from that, nice quality leather. Maybe I’ll find it another use as just an expensive wallet.
Shame.

Telethought Wallet re DIY

Postby Card Detective » Oct 1st, '08, 15:57

It is not a DIY project. I must say that although my review was negative the quality of the wallet itself is very good. The principle behind the secret is not new but it is very clever; and it is not possible to make one yourself because it involves special materials.

My problem with both this "wallet" and the Outlaw ones is the same. The new technology added to them. It makes them an alien being in wallet-world.

You should all really S.U.C. it and see.

Admittedly, they get the job done. But i much prefer Mr.Strivings' work.

I am not familiar with The Stealth Assasin and I am not sure it would do what I need it to do. At present I am happy with the Cornelious and haven´t found anything better.
The Tommy Pad I ordered just arrived. I shall have a play with that and see if i can use it.

There's a lot you can do with the Stealth Assassin. What are you looking to do? Perhaps with more detail, I can let you know if the Assassin is the right choice.

Peeking

Postby Card Detective » Oct 7th, '08, 10:49

I wish someone to write down their date of birth. Keep whatever it is they write it on and inmediately be able to peek at the date. I don´t think it right to handle the slip of paper, business card or whatever they have used to write down on. With the Cornelious I tell them to close the wallet and as it is handed back to me I place a rubber band around it before handing it back, and stealing the peek of course. But I would rather not have to handle it at all.

Why on earth don't you just use an impression pad then?

That is exactly my quest. I am looking for an impression pad or other device that may do the job.
I have had a chance to experiment with the Tommy Pad. I was apprehensive because I´d learned that it produce a mirror image. However if handled in an alternative manner than that shown on the accompanying PDF and DVD it can be read normally. This is the best impression device I have seen so far. Get someone to write something down. They keep the sheet of paper from the pad with their thoughts; and you are inmediately able to peek the impression. Tom Bleasdale has done a good job with a good presentational and instruction DVD from Alakazam and all at a good price.
All this said I would love to come up with one using a post it pad.

There is a very very clean method out there using a post it pad. It has not failed me and never will. I use it in my walk around and all I need is the pad, which is one of the small ones, and a pencil.
