Hypno Aces

Postby Stephen Ward » Mar 12th, '08, 13:33

The Effect

As you talk about hypnosis being used in card cheating you show 4 cards with a spiral on them. The spectator is asked to hold out their hands and two hypno cards are shown and placed on their hand. You then show you have two hyno cards as well. These cards suddenly turn into aces and when you show the spectators cards these too have turned into aces. The cards are shown front and back.

Difficulty

(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,

Review

Well i could review it in two words.. 'BUY IT!' but i am sure you want to know why. Well read on then buy one as soon as you can. This is simply a wonderful little packet trick. It is wonderful because the effect is great, it is easy to do and the reset is very quick. The package comes with the special cards and a DVD. On the DVD David Penn takes you through a live performance, a studio performance and then all the moves you need. The moves will be well known by most of you so you will be performing this effect in a few minutes. For the beginner the moves are explained in good and clear detail. The beginner will find this effect very easy and will learn very useful moves that can be used in a lot of card magic. The cards are on bicycle stock so very good quality. There is much scope to alter this effect to suit your style. You may choose to present it as a magic trick, a psychological illusion or even hypnosis.

Overall

9/10 get yours today!

I've just watched the video and it reminds me of Gary Freed's NFW, but with spirals instead of jokers and a different handling. Nice, though.

I got this in Blackpool for free when I bought Coinvexed. It's a good packet trick although I too don't really use them much. It's a nice handling, is pretty simple to remember & can sit in my magic case waiting for the right moment.

I picked this up from David Penn at a lecture as part of a bundle deal. it wasn't until today that i was watching it and i saw the potential. Especially if you use it in the same way David does which is quite clever.

It is indeed very easy to learn if you have an understanding of card magic and i like the presentational hook of the trick. I'm sure I'll try this out in the real world though I'm not sure if I'll use it as a closer or as one of those tricks you want to use when handing out your business card. (encore perhaps)

I'll play with it and see the best chances for using it. (IB)

The effect 'GUNSLINGER Pro" by Steve Cantwell is a nice variation of the effect "Hyno Aces" by David Penn.

Also there was another similar effect named "Bank Job" released some years ago.

Looks a corker of a trick - and I'm just en route to my old friend 'paypal'.

I'm curious though about your '1' rating Stephen. From what I can see, at least one common sleight is being used and '1' = 'no sleights'?
