Hypnotised someone at a night club the other night!

They thought I was Jessica Alba, though that they were spiderman and tried to climb up walls, thought that a beer bottle was a split and started smoking it, thought they were a badger, a dog, and a monkey.

I also did Derren Brown's "mind punch" and his "Russian Scam", which was also fun.

Finally, I got him to take off one of his shoes, and hold onto it. He wouldnt be able to see it until somebody pointed it out to him. He went around the kebab shop at 4am demanding his shoe back from strangers!

Great to hear you are recreating some classic bits of mentalism with hypnosis. That's the Russian Scam, PK Touch, Mind Punch so far. Try a light/heavy chest routine using a matchbox. Don;t know if you have done Reverse Mind Reading yet but if not it is fun.

That spiderman routine :) Another spin on this is to tell them you are Spiderman and then fire your web and stick them to the wall. Alex Duvall has a clip doing this on youtube and it is pretty funny.

Telling people they can;t walk only Riverdance has been amusing me lately too.

Be sure to keep an eye on people when you send them off into crowds. You don't need your subject getting punched. Remember you are responsible for them.

Indeed I do keep my eye on them! and yup, reverse mind reading was also fun, as well as putting them under, getting to answer my questions truthfully, before I made them forget and "read their mind".

I pan to try and make the sun dissapear soon a'la Derren Brown.

Quick question Mr Jacquin. Now that you are fully acomplished as The Hypnotist, do you ever fail to hypnotise anybody in impromptu situations? As in, I still dont have a 100% success rate, and mainly on the skeptical people.

Secondly, do you find it harder to hypnotise people you are close to> From my experience, I still can't hypnotise my flatmates, yet strangers are a piece of *!

And finally, there are those who it just doesnt seem to work on, any advice witht hem? Evene when they see me hypnotise someone and believe it 100%, it still didnt work on them!

Your advice is well needed! Cheers!

ANT: Yes of course. It is par for the course.

ANT: I don't bother hypnotizing many people I am close to. There is no good reason it should be harder. I suspect they do not wish to be owned by a close friend.

ANT: I don;t work too hard. If they are not getting it despite my flexible attempts I move on. It is them not you.

Your advice is well needed! Cheers!

ANT: Trust me you are doing great and doing more than the vast majority of hypnotists out there.

Reality is Plastic

Postby Fabian » Oct 23rd, '08, 21:59

Hopefully, I can convince my twin brother to get me this for Christmas! It sounds great! I only started to get into Hypnotism lately after buying Derren B's "Tricks of the Mind" book and wondered if things could be done faster, and so searching on various sites I found the Merchant of Magic page selling the Reality is plastic pdf and later found this page on TM and realised that it was sold as a REAL book (which I much prefer). Only thing I'm annoyed about though is that the DVD is no longer included, and on the day that I discovered the book. :(
I'm still going get the book, it's just that the video would have been helpful to learn the techniques.
Anyway, it's about time I got a good book and stopped spending so much money on just certain "effects" that are impossible to perform.

Thanks for the read guys, and good luck btw to Beardy!

I'm really impressed with your results Mr Beard - hope I can achieve half the success you have had to date.

I don't think I would feel confident in just going out and doing it straight from the book (Only very quickly scanned through it though at this time)- I have the CD and I think will watch this a few times before I try it myself. (Must be a confidence thing)

How drunk are the specs you have done it on - I would think pretty difficult to hypnotise on someone fairly intoxicated or am I wrong? Also, how difficult is it to do in a noisy environment? (Quiet therapist room fine -crowded and distracting pub?)

I've found that the drunker someone is then the harder it is as well. With regards to noise, normally I am talking in their ear so as long as they can hear me it seems to be fine. I've found that flashing lights do not help however

Yup - a few drinks is fine. If they are smashed then although it can be done it can be tougher simply because they cannot concentrate or take you seriously for a second.

Noise is of no concern. Just use it. Or should I say utilize it.

I have just purchased it. First the boring stuff as this is a review forum. Ordered on thursday night turned up on Saturday, very good. Next, value for money...well produced book (worth the money on its own) and an instructional DVD.

I am a complete beginner to hypnosis. I have been hypnotised myself to stop smoking...it worked for a year..... instantly, that was 3 years ago and i am back on the tabs now unfortunately but surely thats my own fault!

Im not sure what your success rate is on stopping smoking Anthony but i can safely say, that i instantly had no cravings whatsoever, even after a few pints..(this was before the smoking ban aswell). I also seemed to have developed much more confidence over night..altho i wasnt exactly under-confident before. Is this normal?

Anyway i am yet to try any techniques in the book but after a quick read i am wondering if it is possible to Hypnotise yourself to help stop smoking?? (yes, i have no will power!)

My personal struggles and questions aside..i found the book really easy to read and easy to follow - and it is an absolute bargain, im not sure how easy going hypnotist books are normally but ive always had the pre-conception that it would be like reading advanced psychology!

Now i need to practice a bit and pluck up the courage to try some of them out...i cant bloody wait. If you have any interest in performing mentalism / hypnotism buy this book!

PS. On another tangent, i like the bit on the DVD where someone off camera says, is he the new derren brown and someone else says..Yeah, but better. Classic!

Thanks for the review King, much appreciated. When I do therapy for smoking it is generally a single session approach and does not require will power. Not to sure about how you can do that with self hypnosis, ut good luck.

If any RIP owners from TM have not been sent the supplement to the book 'Reality is Plastic: Proper Mental Vol 1' then please email me direct and I will send it to you.

I got mine yesterday and today at school I got the first guy I tried completely under.
I got his hand and his led stuck to a book then had it tow him around,
I got him to laugh hysterically when he saw his backpack,
I made him think that his jacket and watch belonged to me,
I made him mute,
and I stuck his hands to a table and made him think his jacket was making him really hot but he couldn't take it off.

Though I couldn't make his arm stiff even after I had him under.
I haven't gotten anyone else as deeply under as he was yet but I'm looking forward to trying some more.
