Birdcage Paddle

This is my first review for Talk Magic. I hope you like it.

The Effect
You show two wooden paddles, one with a parrot and one with a cage. With a little magic you make the parrot fly to the other paddle and land in the cage. That is basically it but of course you can beef it up a bit with the correct presentation. For instance you could start with the Parrot in the cage and tell a story of how it escaped etc, etc.

Cost 7.50 from Loony bin. or 5.00 from Prudhoe Magic.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Its a paddle trick so you have to know how to do the Paddle Move but there is a detailed account of how to do it in the instructions. 2

Review If you like Paddle tricks as I do then it is a great addition and Adults and Kids will both like it. It is a different angle from the usual Paddle Tricks where spots or jewels appear and disappear. The fact that it is a bird and a cage should give a good presentation. The props are well made and the paddles are wooden which adds a nice touch. All in all I like this very much.

Overall A great effect, lovely props and a nice price.

Bird cage Paddle

I really enjoy working with various paddles and, as I do a pirate act the parrot fits in well. I always ensure that the handle will suit me and generally modify them by sanding to make them more positive. Modelling balloons are another excellent aid for positive paddling. The routine using chalk marks that the late Joe Riding popularised is great fun especially when you are faced with a "know it all".
I think the paddle move is very underated as it can be used as a utility move and not just as a trick in itself.
