description :A spectator is asked to deal through a deck and stop on ANY card they like. This card is revealed,a wallet is opened and a small envelope is removed.Inside the envelope there is ONE playing card, this card matches the card the spectator stopped at.

see the demo on www.jbtv.co.uk and read on.

if you`ve read my 'tempus fugit' review you already know that the jbtv staff doesn`t always present the tricks in an honest way.in this presentation there is a nuance which was put in deliberately that won`t
stand in a real performance(unless you feel VERY lucky).giving more details will give away the trick.
it is also said at the end of the demo that it can be repeated instantly.now although the prediction card can turn out to be a different one,it is not very wise to repeat the trick to the same spectator and in fact, repeating it will give the secret away.after that being said, let me just say that this trick is a total fooler.people just go crazy when they see the prediction and the fact that it`s the only one in the envelope.it`s almost self working and no sleights are involved.the props are not examinable but it`s never an issue because of the fairness in the presentation.this one really looks like a miracle. i give it 9/10.

one final note : if David Copperfield can say that he uses no wires in his 'flying' illusion,i guess jbtv can mislead a bit in their demo.after all, their job is to mislead (as all magicians do).

I have Future Zone and think it's one of the greatest tricks out there! People are so amazed when out the the entire deck, the one card they stoped at matches your one prediction card! The included himber wallet is nice too, and can be used for other tricks as well.

That leads me to my question.
It seem too obvious to me to have the wallet out in plain view. Aren't you afraid of revealing something by having the closed wallet set in plain view? To avoid a any possible problems I usually hold the wallet while they are dealing through the deck.

Any suggestions?

leaving the wallet out in the open is what makes
this trick so powerfull.if you touch it before or hold it, there might be a sence of suspition.
i`ve never had someone reaching for the wallet because the selection is not made yet so there is really nothing to look for.the impact of revealing
the selection out of a wallet that was in plain view all the time is uncanny.

What I specifically meant was that if you leave the wallet out and closed, you can clearly see there is a "secret" to the wallet. I don't want to go into anymore detail here about it but I am afraid people are going to pick up on this. Maybe it just seems obvious to me because I know how it's done. But I'm afraid people will notice. That's why I show it and hold it right in front of them. I'm concealing the trick better that way but I agree it's takes something away from it.

What do you think?

you only think it`s obvious because you know the secret.i`ll say it again,at the time you show the wallet for the first time, the selection hasn`t been made yet so nobody suspects anything.all the
attention is concentrated on how the prediction card is going to be selected. the total freedom of choice is what gets them.
the only problem i can think of is if the table the wallet is on,is very high, and the wallet is at about the eye level of the spectators.in those cases i will simply face the wallet so that its longer side faces the audience or a more bold move i did is to place the wallet right next to the spectator so he`s looking at it straight down!
but i feel these precautions aren`t that necessary
unless you really want to set your mind at ease.
hope this helps.

I really wanna buy this trick and would like to know if it is really true that you dont have to force the card? Does the spectator stop on any card they choose and it instantly matches?

I don't know how the effect is performed however,

if you take a moment to think it through logically, there has to be some sort of force in there so you have a high percentage of predicting the correct card and placing it in the wallet. One thing that you can be sure of is that the spectators aren't going to be aware of the force, or else there wouldn't be any point in the trick.

My personal explanation of the trick would be the use of a svengali deck. This is propably why you can't perform it twice, incase the spectator gets the same card.

Any comments from people who know the trick?
If anyone is going to reveal any more about the trick please do it in the magicians only forum for obvious reasons.

See in the video on www.jbtv.co.uk/guide.html of future zone...it doesnt use the svengali deck because all of the cards are fliped face up be a spectator...watch the vid..it doesnt look like force

Forcing a card

This trick is a must do for every show I do and no-one has come close to guessing how it is done. It is indeed true that you don't have to force a card. You just have to deal out the pack and the way it appears to the spectator is that they can stop on any card they like in the deck. You can repeat a number of times with different cards though common sense would dictate that you wouldn't want to keep repeating to the same audience more than 2 or 3 times. This trick would make my top 5 all time favourites.

THIS is my all time favorite, .... but .... AND THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT: get rid of the supplied wallet, buy a real good one from e.g. Leather Jerry or buy a wooden card box from Viking Magic.

This trick IS a wonder if you take the heat off ANY gimmicked or suspicious add-ons.

Use a deck different from your regulary used ones; use an old, a funny lookin' or simply a Bee Deck (when using Bicycle the other way).

This trick shocks. And if performed with the right story; perform it 4 times an evening to the same people (well, you have to dare a little, but hey!).

I've had no trouble at all with the wallet as supplied - only me remembering its orientation but I usually check that out first.

..Or you could find this is Al Koran's "Five Star Prediction" detailed in "Al Koran's Legacy" by Hugh Miller (1972). This book is still available, now in paperback and comb bound, from Repro Magic.

Ken Brooke's handling/presentation of Al's routine was recorded in Martin Breese's "New Sorcerer" magazine Volume one issue 3 (October 1992).
