Where would you guys recommend I get some rubber bands? Or what sort of rubber bands? Am thinking of starting to go into rubber band magic.

Check your local Staples stores, they do the US Alliance Gold bands which are the ones used for most rubber band effects, a bit like Bicycle cards are to card magic.

You can get rubber bands in most stores, but if you need to learn some good tricks with rubber bands, Daniel Garcias Bent touch slink is a great dvd

I buy my bands from Mike Danata (now there's a surprise  ) as he sells packets of 100 assorted coloured bands imported from Japan.

They're super stretchy and ideal for most band magic and at £2 a packet I think that they're reasonably priced for what you get.

Personally, I think that normal dull brownish bands look rather boring and the Japanese logo and wording on the packet gives a nice line of patter to lead you into the routine.

I start with something similar to:

have you ever notice how dull elastic bands are?. well these are from Japan and their bands have some rather strange properties.....................

You'de be surpruised at how many people then want to see the aparent difference and are bemused by the bands rather than by your skills.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I popped into Staples today and they don't stock it?

Also, was just wondering what do the US Alliance Gold Bands look like? I tried to search on google and 1. couldn't find anyone who sold them in the UK 2. Could only find alliance pale crepe gold rubber bands. I personally didn't quite like the look of them.

Has anyone ever bought any of these? If so, I'm wondering how good they are and if they look as nice as they do in the photos?

By the way, I didn't mean that post to look as abrupt as it probably did. I was just trying to help and wasn't implying you should've used the search function!

Haha, not a problem. But I sometimes get irked by people asking the same question that's been asked multiple times by various other people anyway.

And thanks for the thread, I found it quite helpful too!
