Ali's Funeral Today - A Request From Paul Daniels

Postby Tomo » Mar 27th, '09, 10:45

From Paul Daniels, via Twitter:
"At 2.30 will you raise a glass, clap your hands, shout Abracadabra to Ali Bongo. That will be his funeral time. Let's give him a send off"
Spread the word about Ali and the send off please. He was a great guy.

A clap, a call of "Abracadabra!" and a slurp of red. I think I might knock off early today and finish the bottle. Feeling unaccountably bereaved.

I wish id been at the funeral.

I imagine that as funerals go, it was a truly joyfull meeting.

i watched something on the television last night about funeral traditions in Ghana, where your coffin is shaped to reflect what you did in life.

i kind of like the idea of a coffin shaped like a huge pair of curly slippers.

Without any need for persuasion I even got my lay colleagues in the office to remember Ali and raise a non alcohilic drink in memory.

All had remembered watching him on TV as they grew up

Ali's curly slippers were on his coffin..

It was sad, moving and memorable.. And even amusing in places with tales of Ali's life

I will have a full write up tomorrow, but there were a lot there, and I think Ali would have been proud to have seen everyone there for him

Like a final show, Ali had a huge applause, and standing ovation from his final audience...

We will miss you Ali, but today served to remind us what you gave us.. And left us..

Best salaams Ali.... Rest in peace
