There's a principle in magic called the Judas Card. It is used with many poker deal effects, and I believe I am right in saying that one of the places that describes it is in one of the first 4 Basil Horwitz books - although it may be in Nick Trosts book called - (danged if I can remember).
Anyway I will look it up tmw as the effect described is a really beautiful poker effect. a poker hand is dealt three timesand each time it gets fairer and fairer, but still each time the spectator will lose. (the last time the spec chooses the cards as they are shown face up...)
I suspect that goldfish is also right though as it sounds right up Paul Zennons street, and is the sort of thing that would fit nicely into the winning a tenner book.
I think the Nick Trost book is called "the card magic of Nick Trost" and the more I think about it that is where the three poker hands effect is. As I say I will look it up.
