coke bottle (production item)

Postby magicdiscoman » Jan 2nd, '05, 05:33

The Effect http://www.alakazam.co.uk/acatalog/Bottles.html
Quick Effect: A coke bottle is placed into a paper bag, after a few gags you try to make the bottle disappear (without success)

You now get a little fed-up and screw the bag up thus proving the bottle has gone!

This is only one of the effects that can be performed with this great bottle Great for performing at the pub!

Cost £35.00

Difficulty 1
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review
well its a quality product as pictured with a removable top cap in the case of the full version and comes as pictured.
its well made and should last a long time.

Overall
theres plenty of scope for this production item and a few routines are provided on a photocopied instruction sheet, but it's obviouse what it does as soon as you open the tube.
the full bottle can be used to contain other production items so would be ideal in a production box and of course a bladder could be fitted for spillage   .
well worth the price but i would like to have seen a discount for multiple buys as they would make an excelent string of productions from a production box or tube.

Are these the Neilson bottles?

On my last act at the City Varieties, i borrowed a vanishing ketchup bottle of a magi friend, and used it in my Burger King routine. I do a 6 straw reeat etc, and say that the remembered to give me some sauce, show the whole bottle, put it to one side and finish the straws, i then say my mum will kil me if i dont tidy up, so i put the bottle back in the bag, screw it up and throw it off stage.

It went really well as part of a routine, my advice, get one!

yes they are mr wonder, Neilson bottles are generaly considered to only be bear bottles but they do ketchup and coke bottles as well which don't need additional lables unlike the bear bottles.

many years ago i had a set of bear bottles for a production from a mirror box shaped like a drinks cabinet along with some glases filled with liquid and capped   .
I'm glad to say that the quality and structure of the bottles have greatly improved, they don't fall apart now or rot away like the old style ones.

I think it is a bit of a rip off for what you get

To be fair i dont think it is a rip off i have paid more than £35.00 for a lot less. do not look at what it is but what i could be!!

personally i think mark has there right idea and the ketchup bottle could be great!

Only i think some restraunts may have a shock

"ketchup sir"

Sorry to open an old thread, but I got one of these yesterday from here:
http://www.magicbox.uk.com/shop.php/sho ... p_586.html

I have the full Coke version (which doesn't have a bottle top with it) but is excellent for vanish or production and I've already got a few routines buzzing round me 'ead.
If I could afford it, producing ten or so bottles from a small bag a la Mary Poppins (or for younger forum members the bag that Tinky Winky put the ball and scooter in) would be excellent on stage.

Get one!

To add to this, I used my Neilen coke bottle on stage last night, just the simple 'gag' routine where you try to make the bottle vanish, give up after a few attempts then screw up the bag (with the bottle inside) and I was
taken aback by how much of a good response it received.

I expected it to raise a bit of a laugh at best and assumed that it's such an old chesnut that people would have seen it before, but no!

I'm working on other routines for it such as a bottle change but this is a good prop for stage workers and really does look like the real mcoy once you know how to handle it correctly.

The Neilson bottles have been around for along time and are beautiful. If used as a running gag to make it vanish in a bag it plays very well as opposed to just a relatively quick vanish.

Can somebody please tell me what the hell has happened to the "full" ketchup bottle at alakazam?

It looks ridiculous

The full bottles no longer come with Heinz label as Norm Nielsen has been unable to renew the contract with them.

I found the following statement from Nielson regarding this on another forum.

'No, Heinz bottles are not available.

Our licensing expired, and their new terms place so much demands on our small business that it is not worthwhile for us to make this product anymore. The magic market is too small, and we just would not make enough sales to satisfy their liability insurance requirements. '

What would they need liability insurance for???

Either way he should not produce a ketchup bottle that looks like a joke bottle as it just wont sell, he should do a HP brown sauce one or "Daddys" ketchup instead!

I was in Davenports on Thursday and they proudly had the Heinz labelled bottles on display. So if you want one, it'll be worth contacting them.

Funnily enough, the coke bottle I have is blank. It has the logo on it but it's not painted white like new coke bottles are (I think it's more like the older ones), yet the ones in Davenports had the logo painted with white paint on it on the full and empty versions.
