when i was younger, paul daniels was my idol, i wanted to be like him in every way - especially with his assistant / wife debbie :P

i used to have the cup and balls trick on video, it amazed me, as (with many of his other tricks) i knew 1 method of doing it, however, he modded the trick in such a way that i got confused whilst watching it :-O and i knew how it was done - a real genius!!!

I've been looking for this clip too; if memory serves me correctly, he opens with the single chop-cup, and then proceeds into a full-blown 3 or 4-phase cups and balls gig, ending with the final production of an apple, lemon and orange.

Is this the same one as shown on his Edinburgh tape?

I know its been a while since this post was last commented on, but I found THE VIDEO !!! (looking at it, I cant belive its from 1985, lol)

Also, I love the fact that he himself is impressed with the trick (notice how he says - it took me like 300 performances...what a legend)

Hope this helps you guys out, and brings back as many great memories as it did for me :)

I may get heckled for this but I really like Penn and Tellers version of this with the clear cups. Although Paul Daniels is an absolute master of the trick, I find the P&T version just as brilliant.

It's performed with so much skill that the cups might as well be normal cups for all the good it does being able to see through them.

I saw Paul Daniels a while back and called out "Do Chop Cup, woo" from my seat.
I might've had a beer.

He left til near the end, if he'd done it first I'd could left at the interval a happy man; not that I would have.
