I was talking to one of my magicial mates who thought he knew of a coin that could be flipped and the outcome of the toss decided by the magician. Might be known as a Heads Tails Coin. The coin could be shown as normal before it was tossed.

I've done a bit of research but can't find anything.

you can gaff a coin so that you can tell which way its falling. But you cant make it fall the way you want it too.
It's just a little notch on the heads side of the coin.
when it's spun, you can hear a different noise just before it settles.

In terms of gimmicks, I believe outlaw have "The Relic" and "The Templar", which will do the same job. It will also let you know which hand is holding the coin.

I can't imagine it would be too hard to find some apparently normal coins with the same principle.

There are gimmicks out there, but it seriously is easier (and cheaper) to learn the little bit of sleight of hand needed to control the fall of a coin

I wholeheartedly recommend you buy this, you're then able to perform with a borrowed coin long after you've accidently spent your gimmick.

I just wanted to know what the coin was. I thought I had every gimmicked coin going. They did a thing on the real hustle with dice based on the same principle by the sound of it.

I'll check the book recommendation out tho.

This method is highly unreliable....but Banachek has a nice method using cellotape....maybe try looking that up... :wink:

Amen. It's amazing that with a lot of subtleties and deceptions and a tad of sleight of hand what type of explanations people come up with- from rigging the room with magnets to gaffed tables.
