What WALLET should I get??

Postby dj4571 » Sun Mar 14, 2010 1:02 am

Hello everyone! My name's David and I've been reading A LOT of stuff on these forums the last few weeks (just got back into magic recently) and thought I'd make my first post.

OK... so here is my questions.. what wallet (for CTW routine) should I get?? My real question is what is the "best" wallet to get? lol.. I know loads of people are going to say there is no best wallet... but in your own opinion... what's the best?

I have read A LOT of posts about wallets and have actually ordered a REAL MAN's WALLET... haven't got it yet, but looks like I will be happy with it. But I ALSO want a no palm wallet... probably a mullica wallet... I also don't mind it being a larger inside jacket wallet so that way I'll have both a larger one for when I am wearing a jacket and a hip pocket wallet for when I'm not.

I have come down to this list but still can't decide so pleeeeeease help!!

1. Mullica Wallet:
I like the idea of this wallet but then there is the....

2. BKM Wallet:
Am I better of getting this than a normal mullica wallet? it has the same effect as a mullica and more features ... so surely it's better??)

3. Mirage Wallet:
Heard good things about this too

4. Triple Threat Wallet:
again also read really good things on this wallet!

Also JOL wallets and the absolutely amazing wallet? I also want a wallet that can do card to sealed envelope in wallet!

I don't mind getting a couple of wallets (obviously would prefer just one that if possible)... but in total I want to be able to do these effects:

- No palm wallet (like a mullica load)
- Card to sealed envelope in wallet (dont mind palm or no palm)
- and.... fire or flamming wallet! I like this gimmick/effect!

Like I said.. I don't mind getting a couple of wallets but obviously if there's one that can do it all then that sounds good to me!! I just want to know what is the "best" wallet for what I am looking for?

I know loads have been written about all these wallets (and other wallets too)... but every conclusion is basically... there ALL amazing!!! So that doesn't really help in me deciding LOL. I really can't decide as there all apparently so good and I can't afford buying them all, so which one(s) should I get... please HELP!!!!

Thanks in advance everyone... hope I get some good response on this post as I am sure it will help me decide and others out there who can't decide too! :)

Hi,

I use The Real Mans Wallet.
Its a real nice wallet, very slimline and well priced too.

- No palm wallet (like a mullica load)
- Card to sealed envelope in wallet (dont mind palm or no palm)
- and.... fire or flamming wallet! I like this gimmick/effect!

Out of your requests above it can only offer a card to sealed envelope but this is only possible with extra work.
However once 'the dirty work' has been done I allow myspectators to open the wallet as the 'gimmick' (if you can call it that) is well hidden.

Good luck with your search amigo.

Another vote for the Real Man's Wallet here. Easy to use, reasonably priced, can be used as everyday wallet. I considered a card to sealed wallet/envelope type, but personally I think that's overkill for ctw effects.

As you've already ordered a RMW (you'll be happy you did) and have extra cash to spend, I advise you to look at a wallet that does something else rather than have two wallets that do essentially the same thing. Check out a P**K type for instance. I have an Outlaw Hideout that does a few things and again makes a good day-to-day wallet.

The only you wallet you really need is a JOL Plus Wallet. It ha everything you could desire in a wallet. 90% of pros I know use a Jerry. Dave Bonsall even gets the envelopes for card to envelope made up so it does't take ages to do. (Find out more here http://talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic27017.php)

I use two wallets, my Large Plus and I also use a JOL Hip Pocket Wallet. It's awesome as well. I use it if I'm out and about.

If you buy either of them I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

thanks guys for your advice. i heard such good things about real mans wallet hence i got it :)

the JOL wallets all seem great but might be a bit too pricey.

regarding mullica and bkm, can anyone recommend mullica over the bkm? i cant see why as the bkm has mullica feature plus more, right? or instead would i be better of with mirage or triple threat?

oh yeh and fire wallets? anyone can recommend one for me? lol

Noooo... You should have waited for my new design!

I'm about to release an all-new take on the magician's wallet.

It automatically loads all your banknotes into sealed, stamped envelopes bearing my home address.

It will take your magic to The Next Level (tm).

Seriously, though, I've been through too many CTWs than I care to mention, and all that time, experimetation and WASTED MONEY could have been avoided if I'd bought the JOL Plus wallet to begin with. Now that I have it, there isn't another CTW that I'd consider (aside from the smaller version, which I bought for casual occasions).

As Pete says, save your money and just buy a Jerry. Plenty of people buy the 25 or 30 quid wallets and they're sh*te. Then they buy a Jerry and they're delighted!

A BKM is Balducci, Kaps, Mullica. It has a palm load as well as the Mullica no Palm one. I have no experience with it but I'd imagine it's worth the versatility.

I also no nothing about fire wallets.

Why fritter away your money on a GIMMICKED wallet?

The main problems seem to be that they are too big, too expensive or look like nothing on earth.

For FREE, you --- or anyone else -- can have my Anytime Card to Wallet, that appeared in my Showtime column in the Linking Ring magazine of some years back simply by e-mailing me and asking for it!

If you go for the JOL wallet, I'd say go for the PLUS one. It's incredibly versatile.

As for the size, I was put off buying the JOL for ages because it's so big. Once I put it into practice, though, I found that the height of the thing actually helps in getting that split-second load with no fumbling whatsoever.

It may not have everything, and I personally wouldn't use the site for purchases only because of shipping costs, but http://www.martinsmagic.com is great for checking out what props look like. Although they probably won't show gimmicks for exposure reasons, it's a great place if you want to see what, for instance, the cards in Directors Cut looks like.

It has a list of wallets with many pictures taken by them, and it was what tipped me over the edge in deciding to purchase a Z6 Wallet recently, having sat on the face due to a paucity of pictures elsewhere.

Do check it out if you're procrastinating about the inevitable purchase.
I once got lost in thought... It was unfamiliar territory.

After reading loads of reviews I'm still undecided. JOL vs Real Man's.

I like the idea of Black's CTW because it looks a bit more sylish but there is no space for notes!

I want a decent CTW whereby a card can be easily loaded via a mercury etc but one that looks and functions as an everyday wallet.

Nothing massive, nothing hideous.

I'm thinking Real Man's or Triple Thread.

Please help me!
