Kilnascrene goggles for aura viewing

Postby Discombobulator » Mar 21st, '10, 15:58

I came across this at a car boot. It looked interesting so I did some research and these goggles date back to 1930s (poss 1920s.) Harry Boddington (British spiritialist) sold them as an aid to looking at people's auras.

One set of goggles is blue the other set is green. I was interested in the box as I might use it hold my zenner cards, however the goggles are so intense filters that it makes grass look red.

If anyone has any more info about these goggles then please let me know.
I found one site with lots of pics of the box and goggles at http://primummobile.org/tiki-index.php? ... ne+Closeup

The box lid says "Kilnascrene" develops Claivoyance.

If anyone has any further info about these I would love to hear from you.

They used to be sold by these people - you may be able to get more info from them:

WoW Bob,

they look amazing.
I know nothing about them but they surely are an eerie pair of specs.

Did you buy these?

Joel.

yes, I bought them !
and I have done some further research.

The theory [and I am keeping an open mind about the theory] is that using the blue filters does not allow you to see someone's aura. However it it is supposed to help you train your eyes. When you remove the blue goggles your eyes will try to adjust to normallity and you can, for a short period, over-compensate and see things in the extended frequency ranges that you would not normally see.
With lots of training you can start to see people's aura with less time training your eyes with the goggles.

These particular goggles were made from a substance called dicyanin (or dicyanine) which allows blue and some red light to pass. When using the goggles most things look blue, but grass for example looks red.

I seem to remember Howard Carrington's book on psychic development, written in the twenties if memory serves, described using blue filters to help train one to see the aura. But I moved house recently and could not find the book to get more details.

I had a pair of goggles very similar to these, they were made of bakerlite with holes down the sides and the only had clear glass. But the shape was essentially the same. I wonder if they were for some similar purpose.
