spinning problem

Postby l-ule » Sun Sep 10, 2006 4:46 pm

I would just like to suggest to the person who said they have problems with the internal coin spinning. Would you be able to put a piece of double sided sticky tape inside? The (gimmick) obviously isn't going to stop it spinning (though is presumably strong enough to hold the internal coin) but sticky tape would surely stop it spinning?

I can see two possible problems with this. 1, it may be difficult to get the internal coin out (though you may be able to pull it out with a very strong (gimmick) ) and 2, if the coin is a snug fit or already pokes out a bit, the sticky tape would make it poke out a little more. If the sticky tape is very thin it may not make much difference.

Might be worth a try though?

I just ordered one on ebay, no doubt it is a 'copy' but the user reviews claim that it is amazing quality, and the guy is very friendly and accepts returns if you're not happy. Should I mention his user name here? (If so I should wait till I receive the product on Tuesday 12th Sept special delivery before I do...)

Note from Mods some of the posts in this thread a a little too expicit so please be careful with 'full' explanations in an open area. In addition, there have been several previous threads concerning copy or fake versions - in general we suggest people don't buy on e-Bay unless there is a cast iron guarantee that duff items will be changed or money refunded.

I'm also chatting to him about making folding coins with an internal mechanism, as all UK folding coins seem to have the rubbish external mechanism. If his coins are as good as the other ebayers seem to claim, then maybe he can make a decent folding coin. He says he will consider it but would need to know there is a market as he can't make just one or two.

For all I know, I might be the only person who's bothered about the external mechanism on folding coins. But then, there might be hundreds of people trying to get them.

I will post about my coin when I recive it. Should I post here or post in the Review section (mentioning the ebayer's handle)? Obviously I'd be reviewing this particular make of coin unique, not the effect in general.

NEW COIN UNIQUE TRICK- Coin Forensic

Postby l-ule » Tue Sep 12, 2006 12:28 pm

OK, I got my coin unique today, from ebay. I paid £17 plus postage. It's incredibly well made. It's not 100% perfect, the 1p rocks a tiny tiny bit, hardly visible to a meer mortal (ie someone who does not possess our magical powers), but I saw this as a good thing as it meant that there was room to (edited by Mods again)
I invented a trick called COIN FORENSIC. You dramatically put on a pair of surgical gloves, produce one of those clear plastic bags with a seal along the top (about the size of a mouse mat is good), put the coins inside, and as you do so you talk about ER or one of those other drama programs, perhaps ask a friend to mop your brow ("Nurse - the sponge"), and finally you lift up the bag and of course the 1p vanishes. It's so visible because it's a large clear plastic bag.

I shall buy some surgical gloves on ebay and perform the trick down the local pub, in front of several concerned spectators, and let you know how I get on.

If you got the same one as me it was prob in an auction in which case it depends who bids. No one bid against me, or maybe 1 person or something. Is your coin good? Who was the seller?

Coin Unique (2p/10p) No Longer Locks!

Postby dgmagic » Wed Jul 28, 2010 4:05 pm

Hi Guys,

Not used my coin unique in a while and dug it out to do some coin work at a gig recently, only to find that it no longer locks due to the loss of its magnetic properties!

How did that happen???? How do I stop it from happening again????

More importantly, how do I safely and non-destructively replace its magnetic properties?

Regards,

dgm
