Magic Wholesale?

Postby Domcsore » Aug 12th, '10, 00:02

Hey guys, I'm looking for a magic wholesale company (was told off for discussing plans so I cannot really say why I need it. Don't want to get in trouble again.) It would really help if anyone could forward me on to a website or a phone number. I have tried Alakazam but have not received a reply as of yet =(, Cheers guys.

Quite a few magic shops will sell wholesale. Usually you have to order quite a large dollar amount, secondly they usually want to see that you own a business, many times the first few times they want the money in advance. Some shops are simply not equiped to handle wholesale some will only wholesale products that they market themselves. Some won't bother because they are in a retail business.

Fun Inc
E-Z Magic
Murphy's Magic
Alakazam
Mak Magic
Bristol Novelty

Most companies require minimum orders of $300.

Best of luck with your online shop  Cause you will jolly well need it.

PS: Nearly forgot, don't forget your packaging and shipping costs, that's another £100 added to your order.

Depending what you need, you really need to hit China for proper discounts on items.

I'd actually advise against looking for chinese imports, most are just very poor quality and sometimes dangerous replicas.

China!??!

Are you sure? I believe the postage costs may be cheaper from Alakazam from the South East of England to London for the lad.

People see wholesale prices and go 'Ooooh that's cheap!' they forget the handling, freight and shipping costs.

Not to forget crooked website owners that take your money and run!
Deal with respectable companies only, with good reputation.

Cheers for the great response guys. I have already been in contact with Murphy's and have read through all their contracts and prices. Although the initial order minimum is quite high, they have not told me shipping costs as of yet, therefore I am not sure if I will take to them. I have been looking for a supplier in the UK preferably. I have tried Alakazam but have received no response to date and I emailed them three days ago. This may not seem a great deal of time but if you look at it from a business perspective, you could understand the need for a quick response. If you guys could maybe point out a good UK wholesaler or a reliable Chinese as some of you have suggested this would be a great help!

Cheers guys.

Ah yes Import Duty and VAT! My two favourite things :?

Before a Wholesaler will sell to you you must prove you are a legit trader. So you will need a Business Name, a Business Bank Account and VAT number. If you don't have these, no wholesaler will sell to you. This may be why Alakazam has not got back in touch with you. And who can blame them! Imagine how many E Mails like these they get:

'Deer P Nardee,

I is a legit magic shop. I sells magic. Honest. I do. So you knock off half the price to magic deelers like me yeah? Well Can I av some tricks yeah? Can I av anyway sum Theory 11 stuff yeah half price, oh and giz som of them red bikes an all. Cheers mate.'

Edit: Mate, there are NO decent Chinese wholesalers. Lady of Mystery is spot on. Alakazam is the UK (and Europes best wholesaler) see my above message why they haven't got in touch.

That's because the Chinese have an alternative take on copyright. They see it as their factory making your things to sell, not just their factory making your things for you to sell.

I do have a business set up, and a business bank account. However, the business does not expect to turnover £34,000 (it's around this figure, not 100% so please don't quote me) in the first year, therefore tax exempt.
