Review

These coin sets are not easy to get hold of as they are produced in limited quantities so when Mike told me that he had a supply coming into stock I ordered two sets.

You get 20 palming coins that are the same diameter as a half dollar but which are only half the thickness. This means that you can use more coins in your Miser’s Dream routine without taking up any extra space in your hands which may be desirable if you have small hands and each of the two clips holds 10 of the palming coins.

The coin clips are what makes this set and there are two clips supplied have different uses. One clip is palmed and them ‘stuck’ inside of the bucket after it is shown empty. This then allows you to remove your hand from the bucket and show the hand empty and the coins are simply slid out of the clip. Once the clip is empty it can be detached and palmed back into your pocket. The second clip is hung inside of your jacket with the second batch of 10 coins for when you are ready to perform the multiple coin production.

The companion DVD teaches the routine in easy to follow stages as well as showing some other uses for the coin clips such as a ‘Raven’ style set up for vanishing coins etc. The clips are fairly easy to palm and being flesh coloured they should go undetected if you’re careful, particularly on stage.

Overall

This is a good quality coin set with holders and if you’re looking for coins to perform Miser’s Dream then its definately worth considering these.

They may not be in everyone’s price range but I’m very happy with this purchase and they will have other uses as well. Whilst you can get half dollars for about £1 each, palming coins will set you back at least double that price so at £38 for 20 coins and 2 holders you could consider, as I did, that this is reasonably and fairly priced – and it’s by Mikame so you know that it’s going to be a quality item.

If you are interested in a set for yourself then I’d recommend that you act quickly as these sets definitely DON’T sit on the shelf for very long!

Thanks for the info..... Do people ever notice that the coins are thinner? and are they attracted to magnets?

To be honest, people rarely see the coins as they are there to make the 'clunking' sound as they drop into the bucket. You may use a couple for other routines but again, I don't think that they are noticed.

It's also worth considering that they may look less suspicious than using a foreign currency if they are shown as part of a coin manipulation routine. It's down to personal choice at the end of the day.

They are not magnetic.

The gimmicks are intended to hold ten Mikame coins, but they'll actually hold twelve, or six half-crowns.

I have this and it's easy to use, looks magical and is well made. I also purchased mine from Mike Danata.
