Sleeve Star by David Jay

Available here for $146 (eek)

Looks kinda good, albeit pricey, but is it one of those where the vid is very misleading ??

Anyone got any thoughts on this one plzz ???

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I saw David Jay recently at a WMS dealer Dem and he gave a preview of some of the content.

While David was impressive to watch, I don't imagine for one minute that the sleights on this DVD is going to be for beginners or the feint hearted.

Unfortunately I can't make the LADS convention as I'm working in Stratford all day tomorrow but I'm sure that it will be a good day in Birmingham.

I have to agree that it does look rather pricey for a DVD though.

I've seen some of this material up close and live too, but the thing is - it's sleeving isn't it?
I can see it selling becuase of the marketing, and the 'wow' factor when you see it, but realisitically, I wouldn't use it.
I guess it's like we said on some other posts, if the situation suits it, then sure, but for me it's a bit impractical to be sleeving things. When I'm working close up, I like to carry as little as possible, including not having things in my jacket (if I ever wear a jacket).

I think that you're right Jing but it's sleeving without sleeves which is the marketing angle.

David uses sleeving as a whole routine and he's damned good at it, but who else would want to copy the routine to that extent. I think that it will be a CUPS purchase and very very very few people will use that much of the content to get true value from it.

I love sleeving but I only use it when I need to which is infrequent. This is one that people will watch, absorb the knowledge but put very little of it to practical use in their own magic.

I'd love to be proved wrong because David is a really nice guy.

From what I understand from the marketing, Sleeve Star is a gimmick.

That's exactly what I was thinking - and at $146 I'd assume it'd be something special  .

Right.
So it's a gimmick.
And its delicious.

a sleeved item instantly transported from the sleeve to either the other hand, wherever it may be or to the pocket or apparently into a card to envelope envelope. Didn't buy it as I'm broke and not willing to battle crowds but with the precision of the delivery i assume we are talking about more than a simple p**l here.
apparently as well the designated location, hand or pocket can be switched between instantly without any noticable activity.
a signed coin vanishing cleanly in one hand and appearing instantly in the other, held behnd the back throughout, was the demo trick of choice and it can't be denied it looks like pure magic.
£95 quid though so be sure you want it (or just buy it anyway and put it in a drawer with the other pricey stuff you dont use :)

L.A.D.s itself was interesting, a cramped and chaotic success i think :) some decent stuff lectured, some good purchases, but for me the comedy highlight was craig petty helpfully clearing up the chairs after a Marc Oberon stage effect and inadvertantly blatently exposing a huge chunk of the method to the half dozen people that didn't know it. was hilarious, strolled off stage blissfully unaware :)
