Effect - An coin is burrowed and the magician proceeds to puncture the coin with a pen. Then everything is passed out for examination, including the permanently punctured coin.

Difficulty - The first version where the coin is held on your open palm, is very easy, but the illusion isn't as strong. The second version, where the coin is held at the fingertips is a little harder, but it looks a lot better. This trick will take 15 minutes to 1 hour to perfect.

Gimmick - The gimmick is very well made and will last forever. About the pen with special properties, it's not gimmicked or anything, you can actually pick up a pen that will work at walgreens.

Angles - The angles are not bad, you have about 140-150 degrees. But I wouldn't perform this surrounded.

Instructions - This come with written instructions and a dvd. The dvd really helps, Alex is a very good teacher.

Reactions - The reactions are great, almost everytime I do it, someone says "You broke my coin!" That's how convincing the illusion is.

Overall, this is a gem of a trick, I've had a lot of fun with it. David Blaine actually performed and filmed this effect, and was about to put it on his Drowned Alive special. That's how strong it really is, but Blaine didn't because of time cantraints, which is a good thing because nobody have seen this yet.

9.5/10

having stumbled across this effect by reading http://www.antinomymagic.com/swiss.htm in http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic39231-0-0-asc-.php

I wonder if it's really as bad as Swiss maintains?

Swiss says
the trick is weak. It is not believable by any stretch.

but goes on to say that he doesn't mind fag-through-quarter. I presume that the bent coin is similar: we all know it's impossible, we all know it must be a different coin, but it still gets performed and still gets a reaction.

Is this one really that bad?
