What to learn first from Bobo?

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Never even knew this thread existed, I'm just browsing out of boredom, Who said bordom was boring it certainly is not when you come across a thread like this, one word with my mouth dropped INCREDIBLE. Well done Mike and certainly something I'm going to enjoy reading, now where is that copy of Bobo's gone.

I'm pleased that everyone has enjoyed this as much as they have. The sheer amount of views on this topic is amazing to me and I appreciate all the good comments that I have received.

It's about time that I finished this thing that I started!

Soon...

Mike.

My Experience With Bobo

Postby MWGrubb » Sep 11th, '10, 14:03

I was fortunate to live down the street from a personal friend of Bobo while I was in college. The friend was named Ben Stone. Ben had the Delben company and built some classic magic effects like the Two Arm Chopper, Die Box, Blotter, etc. I also got to work with Ben building some of these items in college.

Because of the friendship Ben had with Bobo, Bobo would come to visit from time to time. He performed in my hometown and took part in many magic events.

I learned his "Kneezy" vanish from him. In my mind it is one of the most effective "killer" vanishes out there. Because it is "old" not many know it. It is perfect for those that will burn your hands (You want them to in this trick).

The other effect that I learned from him was a silk vanish with a TT. In Bobo's hands, it was a masterpiece! Bobo used a special made tip made by his dentist!

I still look back and am amazed that I was living in Springfield, MO (USA) down the street from one of the finest magic builders of the last century, but a friend of Bobo. I just didn't know it at the time.

Warmly,

Millard

I'm trying to get back into magic again. It's blooming difficult though, I'm appreciate the skill involved!.

I'm particularly interested in close up coin and card magic. I bought Bobo ages ago and kind of gave up on it which is a shame.
