Voting on Threads/Posts

Would it be possible to have voting on posts enabled so people could vote something up, it normally shows on a forum as a + or - number in the corner of the post.

It just occurred to me it would be useful, especially when someone asks a question, rather than 5 people posting to say they agree they could just vote up the post they agree with.

For example in the mentalism resource thread so far there is little duplication, however I agree with Becky about Karl Fulves SWM. Rather than posting that I second this it would be easier and a lot cleaner to just vote her post positively and only post a reply if it was conducive to the overall thread.

+1 (Sorry)

Seriously though, I think this is a useful and workable idea.

I imagine this won't happen for a few reasons. The moderator's like to keep the format simple, not to mention they have personal lives and dedicate a lot of time to this site already, so unless a change is necessary or really valuable they're probably not going to want to do it.

Secondly, while I do genuinely enjoy this site and value the opinions of the members and while I've never met a T.M member in person who I didn't like, there is a lot of malice and bad blood in the group. I don't see how a 'like-dislike' button can be done without it being anonymous, leading to a kind of cyber bullying with some members having their every comment discredited by the unseen masses.

Finally and this is on anonymity again, when a member on T.M says they agree I like to know who that member is. Certain members are more of an authority on certain subjects than others.

Imagine if my opinions on good seance material were given the same weight at Paul Voodini's. What kind of world would we live in then?

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.
