Although they do break some rules, I think Penn and Teller are great. They are a wee bit different to say the least but I think its all part of their act and it's funny. They can be very grose at times and their humur is dark but again I like it. They are entertainers more than anything else and their source of entertainment just happens to be magic.

Cheers, David

Penn & Teller rock. I loved their recent TV show with them travelling around the world. Especialy when Teller got psyched out by the dude doing the cups and balls. Excellent!
Yes they do sometimes give away 'secrets', but hardly anything earth shattering. Trapdoor, use of mirrors, rubber wheels. They use these, as David said above, to entertain. There are not too many things better than P&T doing the cups and balls with clear plastic cups. Pure class and I look forward to more TV specials in the future.

Cheers

Nik

I recently saw the worlds greatest magic, and Penn and Teller did a GREAT version the the Bullet catch trick. They often are thought of as the bad boys of magic, because they sometimes give away a secret or two. But on this show they did serious magic. The way they performed the bullet chatch was simply amazing, and proved that they are capable of doing good magic when they are so inclined.

they don't give anything away that you cant find in a book store.
and as they say themselves we magicians have been useing the same tired old principles for eons.
magic has always been about inovation, finding new ways to do the imposible, the internet is the new breading ground for new magic and improving on old principles.
I'm an old magi and tend to get miffed when kids now how all the tricks are done and enjoy telling you.
but this has just spurned me on to be inovative, slicker, or just down right deviouse.
thease type of magicians have improved my act  .

In order to stand out and be noticed, one must be diffeent. Penn and Teller have suceeded doing exactly that. As stated, sometimes they give away a secret to a tired trick, but the audience usually ends up more baffled than not.

And don't be fooled, they are masterful magicians, even without thier antics...not like the idiot revealing secrets on the "FOX" series.

By playing off the different personalities of each other and the baziarre stunts that they have come up with, Penn & Teller have risen in popularity, especially in my eyes.

anyone seen their new us show on showtime called Penn & Teller Bullsh*t!.
It's very cool. Basically they pick a topic each week and completely tear into it. Only seen one of them so far about Alien Abductions et al.
David Ike was in it, boy is he nuts!

Teller is a master magician, Penn a master showman. They are massively talented and I have no problem at all with what they have given away, people forget that they are highly respected figures within the magic community.

However for the record, they have been known to give more away than simple tired tricks, or those found in any book store. I'm thinking of a complete illusion they used to do where they repeated it for the audience in a clear perspex apparatus for the audience. The difference is, when they give such items away, it is theirs to give away.
