Manfred Shuffle

The Effect

A unique approach to the in-the-hands false riffle shuffle that borrows ideas from Ron Wohl and Hank Miller. This method, however, puts the deck in full order without the need for a cut.

Review

I have always hated the in-the-hands false riffle shuffles whereby you have to cut afterwards.

I saw this video and fell in love with the shuffle. Although after 2 viewings I could see roughly how it was done, when trying it myself I failed dismally. At approximately £5, I thought to myself it be good value for a utility move that I would potentially use often.

The video is on-demand "instant download" format, at just shy of 7 minutes long.

I pride myself as being competent with cards, yet When I first started practicing this, I couldn't do it. I went back to it a while later though, and could just...do it! I now find it nice and easy to do. It is very convincing, and I've never had it "go wrong" on me. The teaching is second to none; all was very easily understood, and I wasn't left with any questions.

Although at first I thought there would be an angle issue, there isn't in a real world scenario. Spectators just don't realise what you are doing.

Overall

Overall, another nice false shuffle to add to the repertoire, and would recommend to all who perform in walk-around situations with cards, whereby a table is not always available. A purchase which I haven't regretted. Some may say £5 is too expensive to learn a move, yet to me there is a different between cost and worth. This shuffle, to me, was worth the money.

I got what I wanted form the purchase, with no regrets, and thus for me I would deem this 9/10. The point was lost because even though the angle issue doesn't matter, it still exists and thus, isn't perfect. A very good shuffle to learn though!

Love

Big fan of the original, all those this does quite a lot nice...although anything performed by the Buck Twins does seem to have that affect. I may pick it up.

I actually did what beardy did and brought this but kind of put it to one side as at first it's a little tough to get into, even for a compitant card magician. I like the idea of the whole in the hands false riffle shuffle without needing a cut, so maybe I will go back to this and have another crack at it.

One of the first false shuffles I learnt was Guy Hollingworth's but although it's fairly cleaver, I'm not a huge fan, nowadays though my go to false riffle is the Grey shuffle, similar to Lennart Green's Green shuffle. It does require a cut but is easy and very diceptive.

You have got to give it to the Bucks though, they make everything look amazing and teach extremely well.

Do you know the name of the VDV? I don't really like instant downloads. I like to press my nose against the dewy window excitedly, as the postie trundles up the garden path, whistling a merry tune.

I think it's on Dan & Dave's "The Trilogy - Andthensome" add-on DVD. Been tempted to get it, but quite frankly I'm happy enough looking with envy at what's accomplished on the first 3 DVDs...
