MagiKen says Hello from across the pond

Postby MagiKen » Oct 11th, '11, 02:57

Hi, I thought I was already a member here. I am a member of many magic forums in the UK and USA. I tried my name and password and nothing. It seems there is a www.magictalkforum.com with a similar looking comment bubble logo but with magictalk instead of talkmagic. So, I guess I am new, even though I seem to recognize some of your names. But then, perhaps many of you also use the same screen name in more than one forum too.

Who am I? I am the "MagiKen" who became the official "mascot" of RADIO MAGIC with Jay and Steve. I also had two of my own internet shows on MagicBroadcast.com back in that same era. I have been into magic since I was 7 years old. I did my first paid show at age 15. Clubs: IBM, SAM, FCM, Magic Masters of Chicago; Training: Chavez, too many lectures and small group teaching sessions, private lessons from a Chinese magician who was a student and friend of Theo Bamberg (Okito) and a MIMC -- Leong Kwok Home, and (thei qualifies as a past club and training). a member of Jay Marshall's Junior Magician's Circle at Magic, Inc. back in my magical formative years until I left for college in 1969.

I have been an amature, a part time magician, and a full time pro. Mostly I have been a magical minister--gospel magic type. But I have also dne anti-drug programs in high schools, colleges, and churches, and secular programs for private clients, schools, festivals and county fairs, and the military. I started in children's birthday parties and still love doing magic for children when I have opportunity to do so.

I once ran a mostly mail-order and convention business, Mercury Magic. and occasionaly still put out a small run of new tricks a booth, but no longer advertize in magic magazines as I once did long ago. Perhaps when I retire from my non-magical job I will hook up with some internet sales just for fun.

To my magic i have. over the years, added puppetry, vent, balloon animals, chalk art, origami, kiragami, and other paper arts, and am still fumbling with juggling plates and balls which are not yet at a point to be a part of any act that is not a comedy throw away (and I have not even tried that with juggling.

Well there is more, but this is no place for an autobiography and what is above should be enough for you to know that I am properly one of like ilk with the majority of the more respectable of you.
