The Effect

Four blue-backed Bicycle playing cards are shown to have blank faces. Magically, a four of a kind appears. But, the four of a kind are then magically shown to have four different coloured backs and styles!

Cost

£15 direct from Paul http://www.paulgordon.net/shop.html

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review

This effect uses only standard sleights, so there is nothing knuckle dusting or obscure here. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The experienced magician will have this down almost straight away but the less experienced will need more practise. The effect is a real worker because it is very strong, very commercial, easy(ish) and the reset is really fast. This is ideal to perform strolling or at tables, the plot is easy to follow and the patter supplied by Paul is good. This is something worth having in your close-up case and is idea for corporate, weddings and private events.

Overall

Most excellent!

This looks really nice.

I was a bit confused watching the video, because the story is that you've bought four cards, and you show the four cards, but when you find the four aces you discard some cards, suggesting that there were actually maybe five or six. Maybe I'm over thinking it? I was just expecting there to be apparently four blank faced cards at the start and apparently four aces at the end.

Also, are the four aces ungimmicked -- so you can deal them into a spec's hand and just relax and not have to take them away again quickly?

No Fakes used in the routine. Paul uses this and has no problems with the extra cards. I got a special offer of 4 tricks for £40 so i have two more to review.

Yeah. I couldn't imagine the specs would care. I just wanted to make sure I'd followed it all correctly.

So, you can use any four Aces, with your four fave backs?

I'll check out the other reviews...
