Good afternoon

Postby FireBred » Nov 22nd, '11, 17:35

Hello everyone,

Just stumbled upon this place having recently re-ignited my passion for all things magical. I'm familiar with a deck of cards being an avid poker player, but am currently spending all my free time swatting up. I'm starting at the very basics and will continue to work through each routine until I can do it without thinking.

I'm based in London and am hoping to make one or two of the pub meets just to satisfy my curiosity and absorb as much information, learning guides and techniques as possible. That is, if they'll have a newbie like myself.

I'll probably be fairly quiet on the forum for the most post initially simply lurking to again gather as much information as I can.

I've recently invested in a good few sets of Bicycle decks and Jean Hugard's, 'The Royal Road to Magic'. If anyone's suggestions on other literature I should devour please let me know.

Look forward to talking / seeing some of you about the place.

Thanks,
-FB

Aw really? That would be so very appreciated. I promise I'll just sit in the corner and not ask too many silly questions.

I don't normally get off work until about 6 then have to travel from the West over there. I'll go stick my name down now and follow closely to find the location.

Thanks!

Good to know. I'm really excited for its arrival. It's been so long since I truly spent time learning something. I can't wait for hundreds of frustrating hours for the payoff of finally nailing something I'd been finding difficult.

Welcome to the forum

Whereabouts you played poker?

If you've ever been in the International, Western,Viv or Sportsman(briefly) or Gutshot chances are I've been sat across the table riffling chips!

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...

Never played in the Western, but I've heard good things about it, but it seems a bit of a bitch to get to on the tube. Crossing that road from the tube looks a bu**er, so I've not been there.

I've been to the Vic a couple of times and really like the place. I started at the Empire (never again, but plenty of fish if you catch it at the right time!) but don't play there all too much any more. I play at Fox on Shaftesbury Ave, mostly. Other than that I just play little pub MTTs twice a week.

See you at the felt some time!

The Western is okay, but don't bother if you don't drive. The tournies always go on late

The Fox opening coincided with me stepping away from poker somewhat, and when I do dabble, its mainly PLO now anyway

Hopefully see you next week for the next London meet
