WELL DONE!
I built my whole routine myself and I have been working at it for 34 years. I still don't believe that I have brought it to a level that "it can't be improved". Every so often I discover that people have stolen material from me and have used it in an inferior way, sometimes even giving away the method. I'm not angry. I am just disappointed that there are so many people out there who don't realise that every routine is 10% method and 90% presentation.

There used to be a joke at the Magic Castle pertaining to a certain "locked" cabinet in which were a few hundred rare books tied to the craft; the joke being that a.) a "Locked" anything in a house full of magicians' is a somewhat superfluous thing; and b.) a "Locked" anything in a house full of known thieves is nothing short of being delusional. In this instance the thieves and the magician's were one in the same creature in that the majority of those in the fellowship will rob you blind given half the chance; especially if you have an effect, handling or approach that alludes their little mind. The idea of "integrity" and being "honorable" standing in question for at least 100 years that I know of. . . even Houdini was guilty of deliberately walking into a warehouse and stealing a particular prop, just so Blackstone (Sr) couldn't produce the trunk used in his underwater escape (done long before the famed escapist came along). But then that particular era was filled with brutality when it comes to magic secrets and theft (I believe there were a couple of films out in the past few years hinting at such shenanigans).

I guess what I'm saying Ronny, is we work in a trade in which theft runs amuck and though the establishment MIGHT raise an eyebrow here and there, the political influences around both, victim and thieve is where the history becomes solidified. Even today there is growing complaint when it comes to the tidal wave of rehashed thoughts sweeping the globe by way of the UK, much of it with claims of novelty which the experienced and read know better of. . . and I'm not speaking of one specific book or writer, and this isn't something of my own first-hand discovery but a matter recently pointed out to me by two very entrenched experts. Then again, in times past seems that the same exact bits of material, like PREMONITION shared authors but different distributing sources, so who knows what's what

The sort of theft you speak of however, is quite grotesque when you find that major headliners send scouts into shows with the purpose of gaining video, just so they can study the presentation of a particular routine that interest them as well as reverse engineer an effect vs. buying it outright, from the performer/developer. It amazes me who, in the celebrity element of this craft, have been caught doing this very thing and while it's a known practice within the establishment (something that's gone on at some level for most of the past two centuries at minimum) no one does anything about it because of political favoritism and cold hard cash. We're looking at more than a few different cans of worms here but you sound like the kind of die-hard I can relate to; far too many of my own ideas and methods "borrowed" by those that could build the devices and put them in the right hands so as to generate interest and yet, my name not just left out of the loop but deliberately distanced. . . then again, I tend to be far too "giving" when it comes to information. Fortunately most of the world can appreciate the concept of paying things forward by way of service and resource though there is a minority that see it as folly.

My advice for you Ronny is that the time is at hand to write that book and share your creations -- 30+ years invested means you probably have some solid stuff that needs to be given provenance and more! So get the documentation together as best you can, warm-up those arthritic fingers and get to typing  I'm confident you won't be spewing out the things relative new comers tend to cough-up, arguing novelty and originality and denying plagiarism let alone accurate reference when it comes to how magic knowledge was inferred by the old timers vs. spelled out in a less refined manner; the yesteryear belief being that those that do the work would be able to discern things and fill in the blanks -- psychological nuance such as we've seen popularized in the past decade, having a very long and rooted history as a method kept close to the vest and not hung out on a line for any and all to grab hold of. But, things change and when it comes to keeping secrets and allowing the cream to rise to the top for use of those residing in said position. . . well, pasteurization seems to have destroyed such long held wisdom.
