hi!!! Its great ive found somewhere to discuss and learn magic as I dont know anyone else that shares my passion for conjuring and the like.

I would greatly apreciate any help you guys could give me as to where to start resource wise. I already own a copy of mark wilsons complete course and the royal road to card magic and im not particularily sure what area of magic I should focus on although illusions, mentalism and stage "hypnotism" appeal to me. Are there any books you could reccomend to help?

Welcome to TM! And happy new year, too. If you look around you will find a lot of useful information. I suggest you have a look at the "sticky" posts, especially in the Support section: they are a good point to start browsing around here (also, you can get an idea of some of the people). For the hypnotism (there are an awful lot of posts on the subject and they are not particularly easy to browse) everybody (including me) seems to enjoy "Reality is Plastic" and the dvd set (which I don't own) "The Trilby connection", both by Anthony Jacquin. Also, the free ebooks by Craig Browning, in the aforementioned sticky posts, have some references on the subject which seem to be very appreciated by at least some of the bizarrists of the forum; I don't own any of them, so I cannot tell anything about.

My first bit of advice is, STOP, sit down, have a good long think about what you want to specialize in, then, when you have made that choice, make use of whatever material you can lay your hands on.

For card magic, the Royal Road is a great starting point.
If your looking to learn stage hypnotism or impromptu hypnotism, then, Reality Is Plastic is where to start.
For Illusions, hmmm, not too sure on this one, I am sure the other guys here can shed some light on suitable material, but, always best to start small and work up from there.

Now you have your material and whatever form of magic you go for, don't forget, practice, practice and, erm, oh yeah, practice.
