I have just registered on this forum so I thought it would be a good idea to start off by introducing myself.
I am currently 18 years old and in the first year of a chemistry degree. Like many, I first got into magic at an early age through some basic books of tricks and the famous Paul Daniels magic set, but it wasn't until I was about 12 that I realised (through the help of the internet) just how incredible magic could be, and that if I looked in the right places I would be able to learn things that previously I had only dreamed about doing. Since then I have been practising magic (almost) tirelessly, working my way through Hugard's Card Manipulations and Expert Card Technique to name just a couple of resources. I am now at the stage where I think of myself as a quite competent magician, and I have performed many times for family and friends. I specialise in card magic, although I do often like to branch out into magic with other small objects.
I was a member of the Young Magician's Club for a couple of years, although I don't live near London so wasn't able to take part in any activities with them. I would very much like to join the Magic Circle, but before I do so I would like to get more experience performing for people I don't know so that I can hone my presentation to a finer degree.
I have been lurking on this forum for longer than I care to remember, but recently I thought that joining in would be a great way for me to gain inspiration and take the next step on my magical journey. So here I am. It's great to be 'here' (?), and I look forward to some enlightening magical discussions!
