The Effect
The Secrets Of Torn & Restored Newspaper by L&L Publishing

Cost
Around £20

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

My difficulty rating is 3. anyone will be able to learn this and there is plenty of cover for any sleights but as ever you will need some practice to be confident.

Review

This DVD contains 5 different ways of doing a torn and restored newspaper and all seem very usable.
Newspaper Tear ............................ Paul Potassy
Torn & Restored Newspaper ...............Fielding West
Signed Torn & restored Newspaper....... Richard Osterlind
Torn & Restored Magazine..................Steve Dacri
Torn & restored Newspaper ................Alex Elmsley

There is also a Torn & restored Newspaper joke by Terry Seabrooke

This is absolute quality from start to finish and includes easy to follow instructions that anyone (even me) can understand. If you take out the joke routine I'd be happy to have received any of the others on there own. Probably my best magic purchase to date.
I already had one system but all 5 on the DVD are better than mine so I'm very happy.

None of these restorations are done in a flash like the Axel Hecklau's NewsFlash, they all unfold but this doesn't seem to stop them looking absolutely amazing

I use the Osterlind version all the time. It gets a very good reaction indeed. I was quite surprised by the response from laymen when I first tried it out.

I was shown one method several years ago & he was selling the printed methodology for about £10 to £15 then, so that looks like excellent value.

Geoff Durham uses Gene's version and it's become his signature piece for the very good reason it's straight forward and leaves plenty of room for individual presentation skills.

I think the Gene Anderson method uses broadsheets doesn't it? Do we have any broadsheets left in the uk?

Daily Telegraph? Dunno really, I never buy the things as, by definition, they're always yesterday's news!

Not exactly 'opposite', just two different sizes. Tabloids being smaller than broadsheets.

Yup. Broadsheets are common where I am, Anderson's version seems a little less cumbersome with a slightly smaller size, USA Today etc.
