A bit about myself

Postby cyberelk11 » Jul 5th, '12, 09:21

Hello,

I'm new here so wanted to introduce myself.

Like many people I was into magic as a kid, but I first got into "proper" magic about eleven or twelve years ago, starting with Royal Road To Card Magic and Expert Card Technique. I spent a long time thinking that magic was all about cards, but since joining my first local magic club (Wessex) last year I've been playing around with other things like ring/string, elastic bands, etc. Aside from cards I'm drawn to close-up effects that don't require special props (or don't appear to), or can be done with ordinary objects.

I learn magic as a hobby, but for the last 18 months have been performing for non-magicians I don't know whenever the opportunity arises -- the most recent was as a favour for a friend who hosted a fund-raising Jubilee-themed afternoon tea.

In a few days I'll be performing at my club's annual competition -- the first time I'll have done that.

Tim.

How I got on in the competition: alright, but it didn't go quite as well as I'd hoped. The two main problems were that my routine didn't fill as much time as I expected it to, and for the first of the two performances nerves got the better of me and I forgot a couple of things so it wasn't such a good routine.

It was good fun though and it's given me some things to work on!
