Creating Aged Cases by Jon Thompson

Creating Aged Cases is a lovely new eBook from our old friend, Jon Thompson.

As Jon runs 'Bizarre Boxes', you'd expect him to know a thing or two, and this latest offering certainly doesn't disappoint. From selecting your perfect box, to the ageing, dressing and mucking, every nuance is covered in detail, complete with Jon's tricks of the trade, which give full access to secrets that other suppliers would likely hold back for themselves!

Although not a hefty book, Creating Aged Cases is certainly comprehensive; it's clearly been written to be the definitive text on the subject, and really doesn't fall far short of this goal. The only additions I'd have liked to have seen, which aren't covered, are sections on ageing and adding leather straps, a more in-depth look at rusting (and fake rusting) the fittings and screws.

That said, perhaps Jon is entitled to keep a secret or two to himself, after all!

Out now, priced very reasonably at just £10, I'd recommend this to any Bizarrist or Magician who needs to make their own cases, but needs the techniques used by the experts.

Thanks for the review.

I've had a few emails and messages asking about the materials: everything is easily sourced from local DIY shops, hardware stores or from large online craft emporiums (I give links). Everything is cheap, water-based and non-toxic.

Tee hee. Indeed.

I think the next true meeting is some time in the middle of the month.
