FLUSH - Linking rubber bands

Postby TerryC » Aug 7th, '12, 18:02

I am interested in this effect:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcyUBTerRcw" target="_blank" target="_blank

It certainly plays better than the usual "swami-like" hand contortions necessary to perform it. At first I suspected that the bands merely stuck together as if they were linked, but as far as I can see they do appear to be physically linked.

If anyone has this, perhaps you could write a review, and answer a question for me. When the bands are linked can you hold them at the ends and stretch them to double their size?

Whatever the answer, this is a nice almost-impromptu effect for only $15 from Penguin.

No, they can't be stretched.

As Craig Petty would say - this is another brain fart that somehow made it onto a DVD.

If you link bands nearly everyone will want to see them pulled to confirm what they're seeing.

SLR is another version where linked bands can be given away but from what I've read the bands aren't regular so I'd steer clear.

From what I've read Hondo (or maybe Honda?) linking bands are the best. Can be given away too.

Good luck!

If you link two bands together, especially in somebodies hands, then they are going to want to stretch them, examine them...and then be amazed.

You have to unlink them before they can be examined which in my eyes is a hell of an issue.

On a couple of occasions in the vid the bands do the separating thing as they're stretched. It looks good on film but not sure if it's all that impressive close up in practice. If anyone does buy this can they give us a frank and honest opinion please?

That old saying springs to mind, if it looks too good to be true...

If these bands can be used for other rubber routines then the effect may fit in nicely to the middle of a routine thus eliminating the chance of the spec asking to examine them. If you can't use them as usual then it's a one trick pony gimmick and wouldn't stand up to examination.

As had been mentioned they can be examined afterwards. You can also do subsequent routines with them afterwards.

You can't perform with them before.

- My point remains...what good is linking rubber bands without the give away souvenir at the end?

With Crazy Man's Handcuffs and Pinnacle by Russ Niedzwiecki the bands can be given out afterwards and the routines are probably longer.
