Omni Deck - Palmer Magic's Danny Korem & Jerry Andrus

Postby Aza » Aug 28th, '12, 14:10

The Effect

The entire deck vanishes and either the Magician or the spectator is left holding a solid block of perspex.

Cost

This was in Davenports at a very reasonable £15.99 i think!

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Depending on your routine i would say 2/3 as at the very least you need to be able to DL and a Marlo Tilt minimum.

Review

Ok, lets start off with the actual construction of the Omni Deck, i have seen a few and this one in my opinion is flawless, precision cut edges to feel like a deck of cards, not much else i can say other than it's a really nice block of perspex!

Now for the reactions the effect gets, i use it as a finisher for my ACR which is quite fun, having performed for friends and family and a couple of strangers in the pub it gets amazing reactions especially if you fan your cards allowing a free choice of 52 then switch it in as they are signing the card, the misdirection is already built in for you!! Why over complicate things?! Obviously the finalé for me is having the entire deck vanish in their hands and they are left with their signed card and as they lift it they get the double revelation of their card being back on top of the deck and the perspex block, they swear they saw 52 cards!

Obviously this routine is heavily influenced by various magicians including the great Shawn Farquhar and i will in time get my own stamp on it, but for now it works quite nicely.

Overall

My rating on this effect is 9.5/10 it just seems like pure magic in the spectators hands, which is lovely! One thing i will add is do not worry about switching etc. just do it, you won't be caught out, which was my initial worry of purchasing this.

One pleased customer of the Omni Deck!

Again this is only my second review so all feedback appreciated!

Much love

Aza

I love my omnideck (same version) the effect on specs is great. The WTF on their faces when they see the deck is great. I just use Shawn Farquhar's handling, including the DL and wr**t k**l do display their card has got to the top again.

Oh and I'd say it was a 2-3 in difficulty, otherwise I'd not be able to do it!
Very bold and a good practice for your presentation.

I was always a hater of the acr as it just went on and on and on and oh on again this product just finishes it I agree,I bought a belter from Blackpool years ago,and still not thrown it in a routine yet,is there a DVD for the omi deck that can give me a few ideas?
Think Aza has persuaded me to dig it out!

Would you do the full routine with card to envelope?

Yes it is on the DVD Corporate Close with Martin sanderson. Most dealers will have or can get it. RSVP magic also has it and Martin may also have copies still

After last night, I just felt that this effect needed resurrecting :)

In a nutshell:
I went to my local and some mates in there were asking me to perform a trick.
I had my Omni Deck on me and to be honest, I can't remember the last time I used it, so I thought I'd just do a quick simple trick with it.
My mate picked a card and in the process of me turning round to swig my pint, I switched decks.
A quick M***o t**t placed their card in the deck with a random card on top and bottom.
I showed that the top and bottom cards weren't theirs and removed them and asked them to hold the remainder of the deck in between their 2 hands.
I reached in and grabbed their card out (which was on top of the deck by now) and they were mildly impressed by that ..... but when he opened his hands .... well .... jaws dropped to the floor.
They all remarked that it was one of my best tricks to date, which implies that this is trick is way more visual, with better reactions than you think; or the tricks that I've showed them over the years have been pretty pants.
I know which explanation I prefer :)

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??
