Hello, my name is Markus I am a 40 year old intermediate skilled magician. I have been doing magic for about 15 years on and off. I do mainly small sleights and coins and have never done big box type illusions.

I am from Munich, but have been living in Vienna for about 2 years after recently retiring. As a government employee I have traveled the world and one of my side hobbies has been visiting magic shops all over the world. I have been to over 65 magic shops in almost 30 countries! I can tell you the best, and I can tell you the worst I have ever been to! Funny enough and sadly enough, two of the lowest ranking are right here in Vienna! (I base my rankings on friendliness, selection, willingness to demonstrate, honesty, and price). Best I have ever been to. The Magic University in Cape Town South Africa. This magic shop is really a University for Magicians, with classes, seminars, shows, and a tiny but nice store! Students walking around everywhere doing illusions to visitors in the hall, Talk about a neat place to go! Second best is a tie with a shop I found in San Diego 15 years ago, and a very very small one located in Budapest called Figaro worth a visit if you're ever in Budapest for sure!

The worst shop I have ever been to. Well, I won't say here specifically, but it's in Vienna where I am currently located. Up until recently we had about 4 shops I think, with Vienna Magic being the biggest we had I think. However, the owner died and his girlfriend took over and she didn't really like magic, and treated it as a job only, and now about two weeks ago, the showroom is empty. The worst one is still in business but he'll be going out of business soon for very obvious reasons.
