Can I please ask that we don't drag the nonsense that goes on at the Cafe over here please? It's not really the done thing to accuse people of ripping off others effects unless there's real proof. At the moment there isn't and it's all just speculation.

Hmm well I wasn't & won't reveal the site where all this has come out because the thread turned sour when arguments started. I also don't think the reference to the older product which Ghost evolved from should have been mentioned to avoid the same thing happening here. In my eyes an existing method has been used in the past, Ali's effect took that & created another product, this is another incarnation of that method cleaned up with a pad & better handling (in my opinion).

As with many effects there are different products & methods out to achieve a similar (but not the same) effect. I still use an Extractor at gigs even though I can top palm a card perfectly because it adds the extra layer of having the card put into the middle of the boxed deck. When the audience rewind in there head it's an extra barrier between them & the method which I like. I also realise that different people have different preferences which is why it's good to have a range of ways to retrieve information. I've never bought from Alakazam & not ended up using their products for my bookings & I'm sure this will be no different BUT I won't buy anything without doing my research these days which is why I haven't gone for all the other peek/impression wallet & devices out there. I do like the look of this though. The uncut promo shows the speed & fairness of it, they use a Sharpie, they can use your business card, they seal it in an envelope & it's not electronic so a long as it's reliable I think it'll be worth it.

I've read the entire post in the cafe, and sadly, I will never recover those lost minutes. The general thread can be abridged thus:

This is steam. No it isn't. Yes it is. No it isn't. It is. Isn't. Is. Isn't.....

I have no interest in the politics of magic. What I do know is that based the demo, this looks very clean and will prove a real worker for me - if the demo is 100% accurate, and I'm led to believe it is. The price is irrelevant. After all, if you sell a magic prop for a tenner, then be prepared to see it on YouTube the day after its release. I'm lucky enough to have this on pre-order so will post a review once I've got it. If its over-priced, I'll have no hesitation in saying so. If it disappoints in any way then I will say so. I think people need to wait until they have it in their hands before they pass comment!

Exactly, thank you Kev! We look forward to your own, individual, and honest opinion as someone who has bought the item with their own money :D !

Hmm, that probably is what I should do too, I guess.

Yes I brought the matter to the table but I thought it to be of interest for you to have Peter Nardi's take on it. I just said 'a website' in my first message because I had a feeling it was not a good idea to speak about the café but I was asked to provide a link and so I did.

I, probably, should have provided the quote directly to avoid any excruciating pain for those actually going to the café.

I agree commenting on the price was not smart as I did not see The Ghost (I eventually posted it but I somehow knew it was a wrong idea).

That said, if TalkMagic is a place where I will not find the things I don't like about the café, I will definitely come more often.

Have a great xxx (xxx depending on your timezone).

Cheers.

Hopefully this is a preferable place for many. Any forum is only as good as the members (and Mods!) and, as we have so many great members, I reckon it's a great place :D !

I know something about the product and principle. It's not fair to compare the price of this product with STEAM. That said, I'd think thrice before spending the cash. There are cheaper ways and means. But still, it'll be perfect for some.
The principle involved was, by the way, known to some before Ali sold it to the community. No judgements here but just noting how easy it is for a mob to form but how complex the issues are.

Hey,

For the record, the two parties have reached an agreement just today.

Have a great day and enjoy your Ghost experience.

Cheers.

Would I be correct in my assumption that the imp will be in mirror image, hence good for drawings but not for words.

Correct but if you keep the words simple or in capitals I'm sure it won't be a problem.

:? I've been doing a drawing dupe for years . . . nearly 20 in fact, in which the patron dose the drawing in a room completely away from me, seals the drawing in a heavy security envelope . . . I literally never touch it; there are no imp pads, electronics or peek devices involved (for starters, this is a full sheet of paper that's used, not a little card). Every single thing about this challenge is what would be considered "test conditions" and yet, I'm able to duplicate the image INCLUDING the colors used. It's extremely low tech and cost me a whooping ten-cents at most, every time I do it. . . even the initial set-up costs less than $5.00 if you're a frugal shopper.

I'm incredibly picky when it comes to anything I buy in the magic world because so much of it looks great but in reality, is questionable at best. My biggest requisite is that I can present it in such as way that comes off as being 100% casual and "improvisational". Secondly, it's something where I don't have to rely on a special something to pull it off . . . at Mr. Murphy loves to do, the day you're asked to do a certain bit you won't have the device that makes it possible e.g. you must know an alternative method that replicates the effect that doesn't require said gaffs. Very few people ever think that way, out of habit we think like magicians rather than Mind Readers/Psychic Entertainers and as such we want the gimmicks vs. development of skill.

For a magician that loves tricks this piece may very well fulfill their itch . . . then again a Buma Board (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClPBYGILrMo) will give you similar freedom and a bit more flexibility when it comes to alternative application.

I can't completely knock something I've yet to see and critique, but in my experience anytime something sounds too good to be true chances are strong that disappointment will follow. . . I'd hope otherwise, but after 4-decades in this biz I've learned the hard way about trusting magic dealer sales copy.

Pardon me for re-opening this old post. But did we ever get a review on this item ?? If so, would you consider paying the big asking price ? Just curious as I have a urge to spend a few pounds.. :P
