In 1968 the book ‘Laughter All The Way’ by Ron Bishop was published by Goodliffe. (Yes around 45 years ago) Within those pages is an effect I have used professionally for many years. It’s called ‘The Wish’. The effect is that a little girl is given a wish as a reward. She wishes for a necklace and her wish is granted by magic.
It’s possible that only a few of you have heard of this effect and possibly fewer use it. Pity, for it’s enchanting, enthralling magic at its very best. It’s not an all-shouting effect but quite the reverse. Quiet and so charming.
Several years ago I published my version on a DVD on children’s entertaining. If you would like to see my presentation I will put a link to a video of it in the Forum of Visual Curiosities where I think is the correct place for demo videos. So if you are into children’s entertainment do have a look at the demo. Mark.
