Any chance of an update from those using the dice illusion in performance (particularly the mk II version)? :o

How are you finding it in actual performance? Are the angles too much of a problem? Does the effect get the kind of reactions you would expect?

I am just getting back into magic after a long break and this looks like the kind of effect I would like to include in my new routine!

All the best
Laurence

Hey Laureance,

I'm just about to snag one of these from the Trading Forum (if Mr. ID spots his PM!), so I'll add my thoughts soon.

We seem to be in the same boat, having both taken quite a long break from the terrors of CUPS, and then both been attracted to the same effect on our return!

... and you just beat me to it!!

Yes I will be very interested to hear how you get on. I've never been bothered about props being examinable so long as they are practical!

I don't know about version two, but I own the first one and it's great. It's been going down very well and better, in fact, than I expected. As I mentioned in a previous post, the gaff is not the best quality in the world, but this doesn't seem to get noticed in performance; must be my superior presentation skills.

I've not experienced any of the angle issues that some people seem to have, so I don't really understand what the problem is. Yes, you have to be aware of your angles but it really isn't a major issue. For my own peace of mind, I just wish the props were of higher quality and not so poorly made. But I would still recommend DI as a nice effect that is off the beaten path.

LOL - yeah...well, I'm trying at least.

It's not too bad as the moment, as there don't seem to have been quite so many 'must-have' releases during the past year...either that or the vaccine's working at long last

Anyhows - great to be back! :D

How do peeps!!

Long time no speak.

CUPS no longer has a hold over me.... It's like a craving deep down... but I really am no longer succombing to it anymore...

Of course.. the recent 5 purchases I have made in the last 2 days despite vowing to sell off all my stuff were completely neccessary and justified

And the fact I'm selling one of the items virtually before I even left the shop is only due to the fact I have seriously considered in those 2 minutes after hading over the money whether I would use the effect enough to warrant the purchase

Bah!! Who am I kidding?? A leopard never changes his spots...

the only cure that has worked for me is staying away from this place... the blue reminds me of the sea... the emoticons are so beautiful.. the people are lovely... and....

PAYPAL is calling

I've had version 2 since June and use it every now and them.

The reactions are ok- good but I do other stuff thats better.

I use this as an extra if I have done the rounds once or twice as they have already seen lots of magic, I introduce this an an illusion.

The mirror is not holding up too well, because its plastic its getting scratched with use. I will have to look for a sourse of cheap mirror as I don't want to buy the whole thing just to get another.
The other problem is the mirror is gimmicked so the job of making or finding another will not be that easy.

Angles are ok as long as everyone is standing or looking from above.

Given what I know I would not buy this again as its ok by not fantastic.

Re: DICE ILLUSION BY H.T. MAGIC

New idea use the blank dice in conjunction with the gimmick and do a colour changing knives type routine. The dice switch places and then both become the same colour. You can clean the spots off and finally offer to show how it works ie by mirrors and hold the gimmick over a small mirror. With this method the die doesn't have to be horizontal just angle towards the spectators. Works a treat!
