Dai Vernon's Multiple shift

Hi everyone,

I've read a few descriptions of the technique of this move (e.g. in Tarbell, The Complete Walton and Pure Effect) and although they differ slightly, they all seem to suggest inserting the outjogged cards within the lower portion of the deck. Any reason why this is the case? I can't see why this really makes a difference, and I actually think that the strip-out is more deceptive if the uppermost of the outjogged cards is placed nearer to the top of the deck. Any ideas?

Thanks,
