Hello again!

Postby magicbob123 » Jul 20th, '14, 20:54

Hi guys! Its been a while since Ive been on here, unfortunately my education and a lack of support has caused me to take a step back in terms of my magic and my learning and practicing (although my semi frequent poker games have kept me atleast familiar with handling a deck). So anyway you guys have probably all forgotten me if any of you considered yourselves to know me in the first place so I thought it appropriate to re introduce myself to you all.
My name is Rob, Im 19 (and a bit!) I come from Oldham near Manchester. I am a student at the University of Huddersfield and I LOVE magic. Im a big fan of Card Magic and Mentalism and am practicing both though I have practiced card magic for longer and have read though RRTCM and studied several other works to support this, I also own and am currently studying a copy of Corrindas 13 Steps and cant wait to try some of this stuff out and I also have a copy of "Plastic is Reality" which you guys suggested. Ive yet to break into that field though. ANYWAY sorry for dragging on, I hope to make some acquaintances! Thanks for reading :D

Thanks, its great to be back and studying magic again, especially now Ive thought where I really want to direct my efforts and hone my skills, I hope to get to know some of you guys better and maybe even attend a social or two when possible, I mean Im probably way behind on the kinda skill you guys will have but then I think maybe thats what I need, to immerse myself more.

I've not been here long, but I can say with some confidence that the variety of skill levels reflected here is huge: everything from absolute beginners through to practicing professionals! "Reality is Plastic" (or is it the other way around) was a good read, but I too haven't done anything with stage hypnosis (although I thoroughly enjoyed a short course in hypnosis with a therapeutic angle, many years ago). I've always felt that it requires a level of confidence that I don't have: I've no problem performing card sleights while completely surrounded, but ask me to perform hypnosis in front of more than one or two people and I go all wobbly; and with stage hypnosis - as soon as you stop sounding confident, that's the moment you stop succeeding!

Great to have you here, anyway.
