Shaxon's Confab. wallet

Postby Samba » Jun 6th, '12, 10:42

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a place where I can get Alan's Confab. Wallet ? I have only found "Confabulation Deluxe". Is it the same thing ? ( As some websites say Ken Brooke Confabulation Deluxe and the other says Alan Shaxon Confabulation Deluxe.

Thank you :)

My understanding is that Ken Brooke had the rights to sell Alan Shaxon's Confabulation. A few years ago, Paul Stone produced a Ken Brooke Signature Classic range of items, one of which was Confabulation Deluxe. To get an original Confabulation, you'd have to keep an eye out in places like Magic Week or eBay. You might as well get the later version, as it is pretty much the same (with a few changes to the handling).

From the reviews it looks like Confabulation Deluxe is worth the price. Thank you Part Timer for the help :)

the JOL Plus wallet, can be used as a confabulation wallet, with the additional wonder unit.

Years ago, I discarded the Ken Brooke model as I was not working the Savoy or Ritz hotels but more of the average clubs.
No one there used a beautiful leather wallet with metal corners.
I used an old, well worn wallet from the Pat Page Card to Wallet effect.
This was prepared as the C wallet and served me well for a good 20 years.
No one was suspicious of an obviously well used wallet.

@ daleshrimpton Does the JOL plus wallet handling differ from the Confabulation wallet handling ? As I have understood, the wonder unit is the part which goes into the JOL. Am I right ?

Thank you :)

Just to add. I also have the Paul Stone method--it came from Ken Brooke.

In this version, you hand the sealed envelope to the spectator and he opens it then reads out the letter. He can keep the envelope as a souvenir if you wish!!!!!!

Not sure whether Paul re published this. I meant to ask him when he picked me up at my home before his lecture to our Guild, a few years back.
His son, who was training to be a pro footballer was with him so it just slipped my mind.

You can use just about any CTW as a Confabulation-effect wallet.

Hi there,
I have the Paul Stone produced Ken Brooke Signature Classic Confabulation Deluxe. I found this chat about it here but elsewhere i have not been able to find out anything about it online. Mine is in immaculate condition and im wondering if i was to sell it what to ask for for it?
If anyone knows more about this product i would love to hear about it.
Its strange that on google there are no links to anywhere that has them. Would be interesting to know a little more about it.
Thanks
Kris

They came out some years ago and might not be for sale any more. I got mine directly from Paul Stone. I see one was put up for sale about a year ago for $80. It was withdrawn from sale, but the suggested price sounds about right for a second hand item (even if in very good condition).

Do you have all the "extras" or just the wallet and instructions? That will probably affect the price for a savvy buyer.

The full history, construction details and handling of Alan Shaxon's can be found in the new, and wonderful book "Alan Shaxon the sophisticated sorcerer, by Alan, together with Scott Penrose, and Steve Short. A masterly tome, that contains some of the strongest moments of magic I've ever seen.:)
