Best place to buy flash paper plz ????

Postby moonbeam » Oct 25th, '14, 15:33

I'm after buying flash paper for the first time !!

... so .... I'm after the best of both worlds - as cheap as possible, but not inferior quality :)

Where do you buy your's from ??

I'd prefer recommendations from people that have actually bought the stuff, so please don't provide me with links you've found through Google, etc - I can do that myself :)

Any recommendations please  ??

This is like an American Ebay, this link will not let you know who to buy from.

I bought mine from Merchant of Magic 6 large sheets (8"x9") for about £7.50 http://www.magicshop.co.uk" target="_blank

To perform fireballs you could get 96 2"x2" pieces from these as you only use 3 pieces per effect this equates to 32p per performance.

Very good flash paper in my opinion

All the best

You can get little pads made out of off cuts which are pretty cost effective if it's for playing around with and getting used to. I've got then from discount magic in three past...

.... eventually got round to buying some.

I researched the prices on all the one's in the replies .... plus looked at a few others .... and found Magic Nevin to be the cheapest :)

The sheets cost £4.99 for a pack of 10 sheets (measuring approx 8" x 9.75")
Postage is free for orders over £10; otherwise it costs £2.95, so I added 3 decks of bicycle poker cards, a real bargain at £1.94 per deck (plus an extra 10% of at checkout).

http://www.magicnevin.com/proddetail.php?prod=pfp1076

£10.23 for 10 sheets of flash paper and 3 decks of bicycle cards .... a bargain in my opinion.

I've never used flash paper before, so I can't compare it to any others that I've bought, but I can say that it does appear to be fine .... it burns VERY quickly and smoothly .... I know where I'll be going if I need any more :)

If I was using flash paper regularly I would look at making it yourself. Not difficult, but you need to exercise caution with the materials.

Here is a very good stunt with flashpaper when you have a table or a group in the audience not paying attention. Let us assume they are chattering to themselves and ignoring your show either because you are c*** (not the best) or they are distracted by mild inebriation. This comes from David Berglas. I have never used it but I bet it works great. You roll up the paper into a little ball with a little tail, set it ablaze and flick it over the head of the offenders, It will light up over their heads and startle them. The audience will burst out laughing and when the group looks at you, your head is turned elsewhere as if you have not noticed the kerfuffle.

Many moons ago my ex was hired to do the guillotine on a live television show. We knew that the presenter was going to be a pain, because he always is with acts like hers. So I came up with a solution.

We filled a dove pan with flash paper, and at the start of the segment she asked him to hold it. Then she dropped a match in. It blew, and he let out a scream, dropped it and jumped back. I believe his eyebrows were mildly singed. After that the guy just stood back, a startled and slightly burnt look on his face, and let her get on with it. The appearance was a great success.

One local magician gave out to me for pulling the stunt. A month later he was on the same program, and the presenter took the * out of him, and cut his performance before the climax. There is a lesson there - flash paper has some cool uses.
